Default 6.5: MBquarts front ???

I'm looking for a set of MB quarts that will fit in the front to replace the stocks. What model numbers would do the trick. Just looking for 2 ways.

Same here, but then I replaced it with JL xr csi. It sounds much better. Maybe because the MB that I had wasn't top of the line. I had the MB reference.

I'e got the MB Quart Q series in my doors. Sound awsome especially with some Dynamat. You will need to make some buildouts and there is a section in here that shows you exactly how. Good luck!

If I were to get eh 216 PCE's and dynamat, do I need an amp for just the fronts. I'm just changing out the fronts for now, since that is where 90-95% of the sound is. Also is there another good brand beside MBQuarts, Is rockford fosgate any count, or any of the infinity line?

Yeah I just yesterday redid my system with the PCE's and they ARE 1000x better than the crappy references, i HATED the way the references sounded. The premiums sound even better than the infinity perfect's i had. I am soooo happy with the way this sounds right now

Did the infinity perfects fit okay in the front? Or did you have to do modifications? I know mbquarts are better sounding than those, but are they decent sounding?

Chris has the MBQ comps in the front . . . both of us agree that my $100 Eclipse 6.5 Coax with stock tweeter sounds better. That is with stock amplification too. If I throw 75 watts to them they rock even harder. We have messes with the amplification, crossover settings and tweeter aiming. It is really not worth the trouble, IMO.

If you are not trying to build a complete system, you just want better sound . . .keep it simple.

Stay clear of Rockford IMO. I have them all the way around and am not impressed at all.

vandy: where did you get your eclipse speakers? Any major modifications needed to the front doors to accept them? Did you dynamat the panels?

Focals are good stuff!

I got my eclipse from HiFi Buys on Nolensville Rd. I got all 4 for around $200.

I used the stock speaker housing for the spacer plate . . . which means you will destroy your factory speakers. If you already have the spacers made then you wont have to do that. No matter what speaker you put in there you need a spacer.

oh did not dynomat cause I was out, I just never got around to it yet (2 years later). I need to pick up some peel & seal at lowes and do this someday.

If you get them before next sunday when we meet for about the April car show, I will help you put them in.

Probably won't be before then. But I may enlist your help when I get them...probably after the holidays. I don't mind destroying the stock speakers. Do you recommend upgrading all the way around?

Dannichols,

What model of Rockford speakers are you suggesting to stay away from? Just curious cause I was thinking about getting the new power components for the front stage.

I have Focals 165CA and they did not need any spacers.

Fit perfectly.

If I were to dynamat the doors alone, how much weight would it add?
