FEELER: Kenwood DDX-7015 Group Buy
Guys & Gals,
I've been asked several times where I bought my new head unit and how much it costs. I'm actually very happy with my dealings with the vendor. So, to benefit them and the Z community, I will try to put together a group buy on the Kenwood DDX7015 head unit (no nav)... normal retail on this unit is $1399
This group buy would have to take place before Xmas so I'm asking only people who are interested and ready to purchase now put their names on the list. Deadline for the feeler will be Nov 30th at 5pm
Note pricing is for brand new, factory fresh units. Not refurbished. Also, they will be coming from an authorized Kenwood dealer. So if you were to have any problems, you would be able to get them taken care of through the vendor... an option you won't have if you buy the same piece off of eBay.
I'll admit I was not exactly blown away by the initial GB prices listed below, but this is a first for this company and I think they gave me conservative pricing to start out until we see how much interest there is. The prices below would be as bad as they would get. If we have some commitments, I think I may be able to negotiate a little better pricing.
Kenwood DDX7015 Group Buy Pricing:
5-9 units = $1200 + 7% sales tax, or $1284.00
10+ units = $1127 = 7 % sales tax, or $1205.89
If you are interested in this, add your forum name to the list below. After your forum name, please indicate if you would also like the DV4100 navigation system that goes with the DDX7015. I will attempt to get further pricing on that piece. If nothing is listed after your forum name, I will assume you only are interested in the head unit. Once I have there are a total of 5 or more people between this and the other forum, I will begin further negotation with the vendor on pricing.

You can get a DDX-7015 from Aafes for $899 + free shipping. The downside is you have to join the Army first or be a DOD, DOS, or Embassy personnel .. orrr .. mary someone in the Army. .. Ha!

I agree. There is no reason to pay 1100 bucks for something you can get for 850 or so.
If they wanted to offer it to us for a price that is cheaper than that then perhaps someone might consider.

Yea i didnt say the 1200 or so was a good deal or not, just letting people know that a lot of companies dont honor warranty for items bought online or through non authorized dealer.

Can this unit be installed in my 03 touring with GPS and BOSE premium audio system and still allow full functionality of the GPS and stock speakers/sub?

Guys, I personally don't care much whether this GB flys or not... I've already got my DDX7015.
As for pricing... I did look around. The best Kenwood authorized dealer pricing I could find anywhere on the net was $1159 not including shipping.
If you want to take the risk buying it without the warranty from eBay or from a non-authorized vendor or as a second purchaser from someone who has access to military pricing.... more power to you.
For me, it's not worth saving $300 (you people need to learn to do math... $1200-$900 = $300, not $500) to not have the ability to get it fixed for free. If it were a $200 amp or head unit, yeah... but on an item that retails for over a grand, I'd rather have the added insurance.
No biggie, tho... if no one's interested, it's no skin off my nose.
Shahrum,
you can wire it to run with the factory Nav. You need to create a special relay device (basically about $15 worth of electonics parts from Radio Shack). Can't say about the BOSE setup, but I don't see why you would not be able to wire it through that amp and speaker set up if you wanted to.
Uh-huh... you go on believing that.... again, this is not a typical head unit. Much more electronics and that touch screen LCD is not a cheap item. I'd be surprised if you had to mail it in to Kenwood for service if you would even be able to come out for less than $300 (see not above about actual difference in pricing)

I figure for $500 less if there is a problem, the cost will to get it fixed will be much less than that..

Well like I said before I have bought from unautherized dealers before and never had a problem with anything. If I have the unti for a year or two and it breaks then I got my moneys worth. I mean thats just me. My last head unit last 4 years with no problem. I doubt I would want to keep this that long anyway. I am curious to see what the next model they have looks like anyway. Hopefully some type of detachable face or total flip over or something.

RAR - is there already another GB going on the DDX7015? If so, I'll just drop this anyway. No point in having competing group buys going.
I think I could get these guys to price a little lower if I were able to show him some interested customers, but I'm thinking we're talking maybe $100 better than what I was quoted to start with at best. That would still leave the 10+ unit price just over $1000.

Also, I believe AAFES IS an authorized dealer.
AND....... they may even order the Nav system for you.
