Two inputs would be nice but my head units has 2 aux ports so I guess I dont really need a second.

My head unit (AVIC-Z1) has multiple video inputs and outputs too but this screen will be used with both the head unit and the CarPC so having two inputs allows me to switch back and forth easily. I want to have the head unit hooked up to that monitor so that on long trips I can have the Nav going constantly on the HU while my girlfriend can keep watching her DVDs on the LCD.

But couldnt you put the PC into one of the headunit inputs? All you have to do is hid the source button to switch between the two? And the 7001 doesnt have vga so your going to have to convert either way.

In my highly trained and proffessional opinion the Farenheit has a better picture.

I used an Avia Home Theater DVD to set both audio and video levels of my system. The Farenhiet display has more controls than the Pioneer for picture adjustments and I was able to set brightness, contrast, hue, and saturation to the perfectly correct levels using the test patterns on the disk. I found the brightness of the Farenheit to be set way too high with a factory setting of 100 where careful adjustment found the proper setting to be 61. Both are pretty high resolution but the Farenhiet runs all the way upto the resolution limit of standard definition NTSC where the Pioneer came out just a tad shorter but not enough to notice with anything other than a resolution chart.

The Farenhiet screen is also a tad bigger - that 0.5" makes a difference when you're talking 6.5" vs. 7" ...

Anyway, I'm wondering if the 7001 is the exact same size as the 7000. I'd rather have two input than one...
I couldn't find a 7001 at the time ... and only needed one video input too. I've kicked around the idea of a second camera facing forwards mounted really low to the road with a wild wide angle ... just for kicks (and avoiding curb scrapes with the chin). If I install one I'll just install a tiny A/B switch some where hidden from view - possibly in the center cubby where my iPod interface and LED lights are hidden now.

Well it's been over a year but I don't recall seeing anything but a normal line level RCA cable input - and no S-video input. I would think the video iPod has a normal composite video output which is a normal input to the Farenheit video screen.

Looking at the iPod AV connection kit on Apple's web site:

iPod AV Cable
On one end, the iPod AV Cable connects to the headphone port of the iPod or the line-out port on the iPod Universal Dock. On the other end, it connects to the left/right stereo input jacks on a stereo, powered speakers or TV and the composite video input on a TV or monitor.
S-video is normal a componet output - I'm not thinking s-video is an option here. The Farenheit will work baring anyone proving to me that it doesn't have composite video output.

The iPod AV Cable will connect into video input of the Farenheit. How you get the audio into the stock head end is another matter - I don't need a PAC-NISS2 as my Pioneer AVIC has AV inputs and outputs.

My HU is ipod ready, there is a jack in the front to hook it up, so I just go from Ipod -> HU -> screen.

I have only hooked up a normal Ipod not a video, and yes it shows a heads up display on your screen. Same when you have burned CD's it shows on the heads up. The real neat thing is this head unit show meta tag info on the screen. So if gives artist name, cd title, rating, genre, and so on and so forth. It also supports many folders on the cd/dvd. So I have all my music broken up into genre folders so I can quickly jump into which ever music I want to listen to, and then just set it on random play. One last cood feature is it reads burned dvd's so you can put 4.3 gig's of songs (or music videos) on a dvd, set it up in folders for easy browsing and it makes for a real nice set up. Do some looking around on the net or send a msg to JVD tech support to see if the front aux will play video. I love the HU and am very happy with it, and the price is pretty good to (I picked mine up for 190) There are also more video in's in the back if the aux in the front does not support video. You could just drill a hole to the side of the head unit (in the dash trim) and mound the video in there, so you could quicly hook up your ipod video.
