Can I use any universal cam kit for the Alpine?

And what about steering wheel controls? Have folks successfully added a PAC OEM-type interface to get the wheel-mounted volume controls working for an Alpine?

Thx!

I have successfully interfaced my W200 with a PAC SWI-ALP.

I decided to ditch the factory radio and get a W200 as well. Tired of working on my car, I took it to Tweeter and had them install it and fabricate a custom trim piece. It looks very good, but not perfect. When the 06 dash kit comes out, I'll evaluate using it if it looks better.

Note the W200 face will not open/close when the shift lever is in Park - there is not enough clearance (at least on my install!). Anyone else have this prob?

Same here. It took some tries cuz I believe the first interface unit was just bad. It works now, although it isn't "instant" reaction time when you hit the steering wheel control. It takes a second for the interface to "wake up" the Alpine and tell it listen. But it works great otherwise!

Congrats to you too!

Looks great! I installed a Kenwood DDX7017 into mine, but man that Alphine is clean! Were they able install anything to keep your steering wheel remote control?

D'oh I sure wasn't paying attention.

So your first unit was just faulty and you've now were able to successfully program it?
You followed the guide @ pacaudio.com?

Did you solder your resistors?

I bought mine second hand and I think I just can't correctly reset the unit itself.

Are you talking about the Blackbird? I understand that you can order a special dock and the blackbird can be controlled via the W200.

The initial reviews I've heard about regarding the blackbird is thats its buggy and awful. I'm going to check one out soon. I need a portable unit that I can remove from the car.

I soldered the resistors in line (used Infinity G35 instructions), and it worked fine.
