New Installed DDX8019 W/LZ702W Touchscreen
The bad thing is i already bought the L702 monitor. Got it new for about $200. What i will do is buy a 07 cubby and take it to a fabricator and see what can be done. The worst i will be out is a few hundred. A price to pay to help others..lol..Im sure there is some way to do this..
But i will have to wait a month. I really wanted to do the portal setup. Though a little more expensive, much better control.
Ill let you know what happens, or if you learn something before then let us know

^^ The first person installing an aftermarket 7” monitor into the upper/forward cubby of a 2006 and beyond Z model becomes a legend and “rock star.”
Many have asked about/for this… but no one has done it (at least no one that I’ve seen).

Good luck man, I hope it turns out well.
Hey Everyone... I was doing research & there is a company that sells the cubby with the retractable face... I have not personally tried it yet, but the set up is similar to the '03. From this, you should be able to mount the 7" screen and set it up similar to the older Z models. The website for the cubby is...

Hope that helps!

Will this work if I have an 05 with nav (screen was removed but motorized door still works) or do I need the crappier 03 cubby (non-motorized door)? It basically looks the same from the outside. I already have a DDX8019 as well as the KNA-G510 and a Boyo reverse camera, I was looking to add the LZ-702W to display the nav as well as the reverse camera. I don't need it to display anything else, but I do want the audio for the nav to output through my system, is that possible? Would I need to buy anything else to make this work how I want it?

Since you have the KNA-G510, it’s just as simple as connecting this to the Kenwood LZ-702W’s hideaway box. You can also connect your rearview camera to the Kenwood LZ-702W’s hideaway box. There is a setup you run to have the rearview camera display its image automatically when connected to the reverse gear sensor, or you can use it manually by pressing on the LZ-702W LCD Touch Screen.
The KNA-G510 navigation black box provides a muting signal to H/U’s supporting this feature. I believe your DDX8019 does support muting, so you’re good here. You connect the A/V output on your LZ-702W’s hideaway box to the AUX input on your DDX8019 for automatic muting of the current output (radio, CD, etc.), switch to voice guidance from the KNA-G510 (broadcasting through your car’s speakers), and back to the current output after the voice command is issued.
I think I have this right, but if I am wrong, hopefully someone will post a correction.

I figured it'd something like that. I know that on the DDX8019 you can either use the cable made for the nav or you can configure it so that it thinks it's a 3rd party nav where you would plug it in to AV1 input. I was just wondering if by doing that it would automatically mute whatever's playing to hear the nav. Thanks.
I installed the DDX-8019 myself, a huge job, with a lot of help from the info in these forums. I have it unning through the Bose amp and speakers, sounds pretty good. I even accomplished what is reportedly impossible, playing the stock nav voice through the sound system. I'm surprised that with the level of thought that went into a lot of these posts it hasn't been done before. I do have a couple questions though:
1) How do you get album Art to show when playing off USB? Is there a specific file format, size or name that must be used? I can't find anything on this in the manual or the Kenwood site.
2) I don't receive any radio signal. Is there something special I have to do with the Antenna or it's amp?

^^ Good point, and yes it will.
The good thing is a professional installer will be able to provide the installation and custom fabrication for a very reasonable price. It will probably be much less $$ than buying the OEM system, and the aftermarket will provide better "everything."
