Finally Done JL10W7, Xbox in the Dash & much more
Alright, I have a question on how to get the Xbox signal to make it over 3' wires.
I don't know what kind of wires the Xbox uses or the possibilty of this, but could you use amplifiers to make the signal travel further? I know telephone companies sometimes use "coils" to allow signals to travel further, which are basically amplifiers. Sorry if my question is stupid because I don't know much (if anything at all) about wiring.

??? not sure what three wires you are referring to but basically an Alpine Aux apapter was installed that had 4 imputs for RCA's. 1 for the TV tuner and 1 for the Xbox and 2 extra for what ever I decide to do next. Hope that helps

Great install. I can't imagine what that all cost. What is the material they used on the inside of the sub enclosure? It seems to work well with the neon glow.

Is there any kind of wire on the market that amplifies signals (has an amplifier, not the audio kind)? Maybe this could be used for the Xbox relocation.

To be honest I am not quite sure what you are asking. I think you are a little confused about something. There is a lot more that just extending the RCA's, you still have to run IDE cables and power cables to the drives themselves. The RCA's is the easy part. Hope this helps.

I removed my custom PC and I was thinking of replacing it with an Xbox of PS2. It looks nice and clean.
Thanks for the pics and inspiration.

I think that's what nismokid was referring to, what did u use to extend the IDE cable... i'm in the process of doing pretty much exactly the same thing you did in your dash in an A4 dash and i need length so i can have a location to stuff the actual xbox. what components did u upgrade on the xbox (like what size drive and what mod chip), i'm doing dual drives so i can burn music and dvds from the car also.....
Also you said you can park in your garage and FTP files, did u use a wireless card and how did u hook that up.... sorry for the long post

As for extending the IDE cable, I don't really recommend it, my boss fried his motherboard trying. Just buy a 36" IDE cable. Again I tried a 48" cable and it didn't work for me but I didn't have a lot of time to test. 48" wouldn't recognize the drives.
The HD is a 120 GB, but can support up to like 4 terabytes now so basically buy as big of HD as you want. The dashboard on the Xbox is evolutionX. The mod chip is the smartX Click here. I like the chip, go with soldered instead of solderless defintely. Go to Xbox scene link to read up, a lot of info on that site. The wireless card is the Xbox wireless adapter. It has a G radio (capable of up to 54K as appossed to a B radio only capable of 10K) and I have a G wireless router. I actually have the microsoft router and I am very pleased with it and is the same price as linksys.
Hope this helps answer some of your questions and let me know if you have more.
