nizl's PIMP stereo system sub install
I'd be interested in this too! In my last car it took me three weeks to find the right vinyl company and color #.

Whoa!!! That's too, TOOO SWEET!!!
I was going to wait on this part but I think I just found my next mod................
Did they leave the factory head unit???? (I may have missed that in a post due to drooling over the pics, sorry)

Yeah, it sounds REALLY good. The Dynaudios are finally starting to break in and the midrange is popping out more. I may still go +2db on it. I took the tweeter -2db already because of the stock headunit's bias.
Next thing I'm probably going to do is get a McIntosh MD4000 CD changer, and mount a display to control it in the NAV compartment....

Anywho, I'm not a big fan of aftermarket "systems" but that install looks pretty good. That upsidedown driver in the back looks kinda weird, and a bit too "busy" but it's a VERY pro install. More powah to ya, as off the show floor, there is waaaay too much room in the hatch.
You mean Jimmy Walker, right? Why do people automatically assume any famous line from a blaxaploitation movie was said by Shaft?
Thanks for the compliment... I think if you saw it in person you would thinks it's definitely *not* "busy" since my main objective was to make a clean, "stock" looking install. The pics, though simple, make it look even flashier than it really is...
It sounds pretty good too...

Nate, you ever think of compiling the blueprints and diagrams of this set up from start to finish and maybe making a small booklet that you could then sell online to other 350Z owners that want a system like this? Most wouldn't have the $$$$ you spent on this, but I am sure if they used lower end componets it'd drop the price considerably.
You won't get rich but it might help pay for that McIntosh somewhat.
If I had my Z right now, I'd have totally been offering you some dough for the plans. Ingenious installers are not easy to come by and when it's the 350Z, you *really* don't want them screwing things up. Those kick panels are the **** man. Seriously.
Congrats!

Like Rob said, I could probably create some diagrams, but in all honesty it probably wouldn't help us much. The amount of effort that went into the kick panels alone was staggering. It took them over a week and a half to do just the back sub box, not counting the vinyl trim...
They used the stock ones and cut them out then built on them... if you look thru the pics you'll see how they did it. Still, feel free to call Street Noyz 619-260-1747 and ask for Chad. He may be able to work something out. I believe he's out Mon but try Tues.

Nizl, the install is soo live....Can't wait till i get my white touring Z in late january........and i'm thinking of putting in an aftermarket system also........since i hear the bose isn't so great...i'm either gonna slap on some 19" wheels or drop in a system........anyways.. looks great.. i have a question also......did they take out your spare tire?

I've always wondered about this. (Especially since I'm basically in the same situation with my current setup.) When a person gets a flat and doesn't have a spare, what does AAA do when they get there? Tow your car to a shop and have the tire fixed? What if it's the middle of the night and there are no shops?
At the risk of seeming crass, could you give us an idea of what the cost was to install the custom system. And please none of that "if you have to ask, you can't afford it" stuff. Just kidding. I too find the stock Bose system a sorry excuse for a "premium" car system. In addition to cost considerations, I am paranoid about having any aftermarket "experts" touch my car. I would have to find out their parentage, breeding, schooling and complete experience record before letting them pull the Zeezer apart. Those pics are pretty scary for a new vehicle. But like the man said, no risk, no gain. Enjoy the sounds!
PS:
I guess now you can't get much more than a six pack in the rear hatch?!

Damn, that's a lot. Seems like it was well spent though. Somebody else posted here wanting to know if StreetNoyz was any good, I could remember somebody had a great install done there, I couldn't remember who....
Nice.
Nice.
