S2K Engine Start Button install write-up
#127
I had two ideas, would the button fit in the center console on the roof? Where the sun glass holder is? there seems to be about 3 or so inches in there.
Also i was thinking tapping into something like the rear defogger would be pretty sweet for a stealth install. When people are in your car and you hit the rear defoger to start that would be pretty cool.
As of now I am probably leaning toward the center inbetween the seats if I can find a spot my arm will not be hitting it.

is there anyway to set this up so that you don't need to put the key in and turn nearly all the way? I mean its obvious that this is more for entertainment then utility-I understand that theres a transponder in the key- is there something you can do like the new Infinity's where you just have the key in the car or close to the ign and then press the button to start?

I think I'll tackle this after I move from Florida to Texas in the next couple of weeks.
Here is my center console:

It looks like every one wants to show it off. What about concealing it, like under dash to the right?
Funny thing, I got 3 keys from the dealer, so technicaly if I end up bypassing the start and find a nice close place in the colum to mount the chip it can start with out the key. Yes you would need a bank of switches for the 12V constand, Ignition, accesory, and probably a hidden ground cut out to prevent theft.
Starting to make my mind wonder of the possibilities. I know KPTaylor is trying for a full keyless start. This maybe the easier way.
EDIT:
According to your own diagram if you cut the harness as described and wire directly to the start/stop switch, wire up the ACC line, and 86 to ground.
There are 2 ways you can go about this for vehicle anti theft. 1) If you have 3 keys like me. Cut off one key leaving the plastic key thob and afix it in your upper steering colum near the ignition harness. 2)If you find where the actual transponder is you can do a little surgery and move it to the ash tray or some thing so you doent even need to butcher a key.
At that point you get in the car place your key in the ashtray and push the start button. Thats it. Im gonna look up the wiring and see where the transponder is.
EDIT EDIT: Page BL-120 in the service manual show the location of the NATS antena for the chip. All the way to BL-138 is dedicated to diagnostics and wiring. So it looks like if you disconect the battery and ECM, you can relocate the NATS antena and not have an issue. Well unless there is a load sensitive feature which I havnt seen. Once its all reconected you shouldnt have any problems because the car doesnt know the diffrence. Soooo. key in ashtray, push button start.
EDIT EDIT EDIT: BL-138 shows how to remove it. You know since it has its own connector and in the bundle; looks like you can just strip back the sheathing seperate the wires you nee as far back as you need to, and relocate the antena that way.

Any easier thing to do, if the reloation works (gonna try when I get back home) is move the NATS Antena to the center console next to the seatbelton the inside on teh colsole. If the transponder ponder is strong enough you can put the key in your right pocket. But thats yet to be tested.

KP technologies has put together a kit, I am a beta tester, I should have it any day now, the production should start soon, there is a long thread on it, do a search, KPierson is the my350z.com screen name of the developer.
Here is the webpage of his company, there is a thread on the forums there about it. http://www.kptechnologies.com/
Hope that helps.
