Long story short.. I used this DIY to convert my speaker covers, Dremel tool and all. I used the spray glue on both the front and rear edges, stretched the fabric on while the glue was still tacky. I then trimmed the excess.
So far eveything is holding... after one cold rainy day
Thanks for the effort to post your work and the inspiration to do mine!!!
Cheers.

Which reminds me, I just bought a Husky phnematic cutter. Cuts at 20,000rpm!!! Hell, I could cut through prison bars with that thing.

I used the same glue to attach auto carpet to an under strut sub box I built -- been 5 months and still attached firmly.
I finally completed the mod myself. It was extremely easy, only taking a bit of patients. Here's a couple of shots of the material I ordered. Only $6.95 for a nice roll. Probably enough to wrap 6 grills.
I also included some photos while I was removing the grill. It was extremely easy, while prying opposite the large tabs. No indentions were made on the side panels either.

thats some nice work. the only reason I wouldnt do it is cause my girlfriend tends to be a lil clumsy in my car and would hate to have her heels get caught in the speaker hole by accident and tear but good work!

Probably would have matched well. I was partial to the basic black since the car's interior is already accented with black.
Awesome write up guys~ So I thought I'd give it a try. Turned out great!
First, I went to the fabric store and bought some black sheer, non-stretchy fabric ($3.50).
Then I popped the grills out.
Then I dremeled the obstructive center piece out.

Stretched the fabric over the frame.
Secured it with a ziptie.
Sewed (cinched the edges tight).
Put a thin layer of Gorrilla Glue to hold it all.
Let it cure over night.

Cut the zip tied back section out.
Installed them back into the car doors.

Looks very professional. And the sound quality is night & day better than the TARD oem grills. :-)
