Wow thats neat. Price is almost too good to be true. Worried quality would render it useless. May have to be the guinea pig. Not much to loose @ $25
I just don't wanna pay $200 for the matching (pioneer) camera.
Quite a few of us have bought this cam, or a similar version. Mine's been in for maybe a year or so, and it still works great and looks good on my Kenwood HU. Video quality is better than the OEM cam on my wife's '08 Acura TL-S, although nighttime vision was improved a lot by using bright LED's in my backup lights.
Just curious, are reverse cameras in general dependent on the brand like using Alpine camera module with an Alpine HU? I sort of want to change to the new Pioneer HU and I'm wondering if I need to go out and buy a Pioneer reverse camera or I can reuse my current Alpine.

What, exactly, does this have to do with anything in this thread? You've got 4 total posts on this site, and they're basically all BS similar to this, which offer no specifically related info or answer any questions asked. Nothing better to do?
found this today.. its a replacement back up light housing w an integrated BU camera.
I personally opted for the ALpine unit sold to go along w my head unit, and am installing it in my Veilside rear end so it is unseen...
but this was super cool and very cheap.
I've got one, which appears very similar, and it's been in my Z for more than a year now - hooked to a Kenwood DDX-516. I'd judge the quality to be very good, better than the OEM cam in my wife's Acura TL Type S, and have no desire to change to anything else. Paid ~$30 shipped. Can't go wrong for the cost, and it's the stealthiest option available.

I thought it would take 3-4 hrs max, but ended up about 7 hours of work including running the wires from the trunk to the unit, and try to figure out the reverse wire color and how to set up the HU.
I just installed this camera today but I got the CCD version. Quality looks awesome. The installation was pretty easy and took me maybe 2 hours and I wasn't going very fast at all. I hooked it up to my Pioneer AVH P2400BT and I'm very happy with it so far.

ive just installed a kenwood ddx419 double din radio everything works great! i also have a kenwood 702 monitor gps system. im connecting a backup camera to both of them ive already setup all the wiring and hiding the cables.
all i need is a spot to connect the camera in my trunk!!! i connected it to 2 black and red cables inside the trunk by where the lisence plate is at but the camera wouldnt give me signal! help anyone??? this is a 2006 roadster btw
You want to connect the camera power/ground wires to the backup light circuit, so when the lights are on, the camera is on. If you wire the cam to the license plate lights, it will only come on when you have your parking and/or headlights on. What's the point in that? Check the wires by schematic, or use a meter.
I want the camera to be on at all times? So witch wires would I have to connect them to? What colors are they exactly? And where can I find them exactly
Then wire the cam to any wire which has 12V+ whenever the ignition is on. Can't tell you which wire that is - don't have a ZR or a schematic for one. Buy yourself a $15 digital voltmeter, and you'll find it to be a very useful tool to have around. If you have the cam sending signal to the Kenwood at all times, you may lose the ability to view the GPS and HU monitors - not sure, though.
My question are:
1. Tap the the RED wire (from the BLACK/RED power cable in Picture 1 to the right) to power the camera to the Light Green wire (reverse light in Picture 2)?
2. Where can I tap the BLACK wire for ground (from the BLACK/RED power cable in Picture 1 to the right)?
3. Do I need to tap the the RED wires on the VIDEO yellow wire (from the Video yellow cable in Picture 1 to the left) to the Light Green wire (reverse light in Picture 2) also?
I will follow the instructions that came with it. As far as ground use any clean metal surface in the trunk. A lot of options in there. That light green wire is the correct wire but I would test it first. Should have power when you put car in reverse. I always test wires before using even if I think that's the correct one. Takes a few seconds
