Default Rear View Mirror Replacement

I want to replace my 2016 Z rear view mirror with a video mirror, such as the
VanTop H612T VanTop H612T
. Looking for advice.

The VanTop comes with rubber straps that strap on to an existing mirror fore easy installation, but I would prefer to replace the mirror entirely. Does anyone know of a 3rd party mount that would adhere to the new mirror and fit on to the mounting stub already on the windshield?

Also wondering about existing power wires. It looks easy enough to wire in and hide new cables, but is there anyway to leverage the power cables that are already there (sorry, I know little about voltage and such, so asking)

Hoping this becomes an easy weekend project rather that something more involved. Any advice is appreciated.

If you're looking for a fairly simple plug n play solution to replace the rear view mirror completely with a mirror that has an integrated back up camera, it likely doesn't exist. The 370Z has that feature, but I imagine you're going to spend a lot more money and the wiring is going to be somewhat advanced.

I found this thread that mentions this idea, but it fizzled out with no updates. Probably because it's more involved that initially anticipated.

As for the OEM wiring, here's a thread that discusses this adding the homelink mirror to a base model: https://my350z.com/forum/body-interi...2005-base.html

Thanks for the links. The OEM wiring post is super helpful. I did order the VanTop mirror, and will post progress on the install.

Default New Mirror arrived early

The mirror arrived early today. First step - fitting.

The straps work well. They firmly secure the mirror in place over the old mirror. I expected not to like the esthetic, but the look is not as bad as I thought it would be. It covers the original mirror for the most part and the hooks are unobtrusive.

The problem is that, when centered, the original mirror blocks the forward camera.

Original mirror block the camera view.

A quick solution is to slide the new mirror off center to the left. This is a temporary fix. I have ordered a replacement mirror back plate. I should be able to adapt the plate if it gets in the way of the cam. It will take a month to arrive (!) but I can live with this solution until then.

Next steps. Wire up temporary to the cig lighter and live with it for a few days to make sure I like it before rigging permanent cables.

Oh, I see. You do have a 370Z.

The wiring I posted is may or may not have carried over. I guess it's too late to get the 370Z OEM mirror with the integrated back up camera.

Thanks. No worries. I am using the wiring that came with mirror.

Right now, I'm attaching the new wide-angle cam to the back. Looks like there is a space beside the factory cam to take the wire into the bumper. From there, The interior of the bumper is unexplored territory for me. If I can get the wire into the car I'm sure I can find the route to take. Just not sure how to get it into the car.

Are there any diagrams or drawings that show what's behind there, and what I might need to remove to get there?
