Question questions

Hi All, I ordered my red Z only last month, hope to have it in June!!!!!!!!

Anyway have been reading the yanky threads trying to figure out what mods to do and where to get the "goodies". I didn't know there was a specific Oz forum until just now.

Anyway I notice there are guys saying they have a grounding kit, where did you get them from?

Where do you get the CF front lip I saw?

Has anyone got an idea where to get the clear 3m car bra. All I've ever seen is the black leather numbers?

Has anyone done exhaust or ecu mods? If so what and what effect did they have?

Has anyone got one of the Qwik Shifters I have been reading about?

Cheers,

H

I bought my grounding kit from Guy in the US. I was going to buy the Nismo one but it's too expensive, it's a generic kit and hence some of the lengths are a bit too long and it didn't come in blue to match my Z. There was also some other stuff Guy helped me out with so it was easier to do it all in one.

I'd like to know about that clear bra as well. I'm not sure if I'd use it one the nose but on the mirrors. I've always found they're more likely to be chipped by rocks or scratch by peoples doors etc.

I made my own grounding kit in blue, I made it to InSaneAmine instruction on his post, the only thing is the Aussie car's battery is located on the opposite side to the U.S. cars so one length is to short. I routed it to the top of the inlet manifold instead of the front of the motor.

The best place for goodies at the moment is Japan until the importers start suppling it, I got my Nismo body kit from Graham at www.japanparts.com in Japan. The car has only bean out less than two months so it's gonna take time, maybe by the time you pick up your sweet little (Red) Zed things maybe better.

Try Quattro Sport Zentrum Pty Ltd in Richmond Vic. 03 9429-7477 they are the distributor for the 3M Clear Bra known as "Stoneguard". Advertised in Motor Mag.

Hi there !

I am looking at a Nismo exhaust system out of the US. Will probably cost 2.5k to my door but as per the last post there is not much out here as there are only a handfull of cars on the road. Also looking at some Nismo headers.

I am looking to get the grounding kit in the next week or two so if you are interested to share some shipping costs from the US let me know.

Car bra no idea!

Unless you're getting a really good price on the exhaust from the US you may want to look into getting it from Japan. Shipping will be less that way.

Thanks for all your help guys, very much appreciated!

I have "spoken" (via email) to Hi Tech exhausts in Sydney and they have a SS muffler that, according to them, will give 14kw at rear wheel. Cost is $1100 fited.

I haven't actually talked to him about it so I dont know how accurate his number are?

The guy is Lambros Kouriefs on 02 9332 3524

I have also got some info on a Fujitsubo muffler and exhaust. At todays exchange rate it would be $4418 delivered to my door in Newcastle.

I am currently looking at getting a grounding kit and qwik shifter from the states. According to the two guys who make them (Dweeb and Guy) they will be a bit cheaper if we can get some numbers together. If anyone else wants either of these products please let me know asap. I want to get all my goodies ready for when I finally get my car.

Kindest Regards
H

IIRC Hi tech did the exhaust for Nathan on the Bathurst 24hr car so his claim is probably good. How loud is it though?

BTW I know Nathan is busy with GTP but has anyone heard anything about those parts he was going to offer?

Just got of the phone to Lambros at Hi Tech, he will be able to supply their exhaust systems in both SS and Titanium he also stated that this system will deliver a 14 - 16 RWKW increase he has dyno's to back this up. I for one am very interested in the titanium system more power and less weight has got to be good, he also said the design will look very simular to the stock one with bigger piping and tips, noise levels will be below the legal limit (90db or is it 95db). He has a web site at http://www.hitechmufflers.com.au/ check it out, the Z350 not onthere yet but it will show the high qualtity of his stuff.

Hi Tech are fairly well know in the Sydney modified scene.

Did he say how much for the Ti? Exactly what's being replaced? Headers back (ie inc Y pipe) or just the rear section?

That'll do me! I'd rather buy a local product that has the numbers to prove it rather than some very expensive japanese exhaust.

Now, all I have to do is get the car to put it on.

I have also "spoken" to the guys at QSZ re the clear car bras.

They are the ones who have it, which is good.

However, their initial repsonse was that they haven't "done" any Z's yet and they would, from what I can gather, only do the job themselves. This is great if you live in Melbourne, but, it's not so good if you live 10 or so hours north.

Has anyone looked at upgrading the ECU, I have looked at the powerchip site and they are claiming all sorts of increases in Kw and Torque for about $1200, not sure if they have anything to back it up

It's a cat back system, he did say the titanium would be more exspenive but no where the Japanese prices, I'm guesting about half the price of the full import price ie, exhaust + freight + customs + GST.

If we could get a good group price who would be interested, I for one will be going for the titanium system for sure, specially after speaking with Nathan about the Z350 system they have developed.

I would be more than happy to join. The only problem I have is I don't have a Z to put it on yet. I would be happy to pay for it now and they could store it for me though?

Hi Guys,
Lambros will arrive back from his Bathurst factory tomorrow with my new titanium exhaust for my race car. I gave him the old one (the one he made for Bathurst 24hr) which was a stainless system and he was going to make a few changes then replace with titanium. Lambros did a few dyno runs with my car including one for a street exhaust so the figures he is claiming would be for the street version.
Any question give him a call

I may be interested in a group buy but would need more specifics first. Ideally I'd like to see photos of one in Ti. Lets face it, if you're going to lay down that sort of cash you want it to look good and perform well.

Nathan, any news on the other parts you mentioned a while back?
