Roadster/australian Release Date?????
Anybody know when the Roadster is due to be released in Australia?
Have spoken with one dealer in Sydney and I received a very curt response to my enquirey..........seems local dealers are only interested in taking orders for current avail models!!!!
I flicked through a prominent motoring mag a couple of weeks ago and did read however that Nissan Australia intend to exhibit the Roadster at the Sydney Motor Show in October 2003!!!!!
Can anybody confirm this?
It seems to me that if Nissan Australia plan to exhibit the Roadster in Australia in October they may well be moving towards a summer 2003/4 release date!!!!!
Any infomed info on this subject???

Would have to assume same deal. Oct/Nov 03 around Sydney Motor Show time with a delivery around end of Feb.
I saw some pictures and have to say that the coupe still looks better. May change my mind later though when I see it

i agree, i saw a thread on an s2000 forum with heaps of pics and think the coupe looks way better.
Not suprisingly, Nissan have only released one pic with the roof up and it looks horrible. The roof is very short, making the rear and front the same length, that whole long nose short rear has gone. The other thing i didnt like was the makeshift speedster style tornue cover, and that ugly shutline in the side of the car just behind the side glass.
IMO the best feature of the coupe is its 911-esque sloping roof line profile. With the convertible, its gone, in favour of this short and abrupt fabric roof.

It is a bit dissapointing that Nissan always had the idea to add a soft top version of the Z to the line up, yet in execution its looks rather like an after thought. It just doesnt display the same design integrity as say a BMW 330CI Convertible that was also designed with a soft top version in mind.
I believe the reason for the small and ill designed soft top is the rear strut brace limiting the area where the soft top is stored when down. U have to believe that brace is still there under the new boot panel, given its a integral part of the chassis, and even more necessary without the added stiffness of a fixed roof.
I think ill just visit Prestige and get them to fit a Hollandia sun roof LOL....btw anyone in Aus fitted a sunroof yet?????

Previous post was correct, viewing at the Sydney show but it wont be available for delivery until at least February.
I was originally going to wait for one and get it then. I too think the coupe looks MUCH nicer and my dealer tells me the convertible will be a good 10-15k more expensive before on roads which is starting to get pricey.
Hope I dont end up liking the soft top.......

PS
I've also heard somewhere there's a hotter coupe version coming out 2005, probally a Nismo S Tune or R Tune version.

I was originally going to wait until the roadster came out.
However, I know I would do most of my driving with the roof on, and please don't flame me, but I can't recall one convertible that looks as good with the roof on as it does with it off!
Anyway, the coupe is a mighty fine looking car!

i'd say even if we did get it the cost would be a lot more than $100k.
The track, with the few options available is $80, you add at least IMO $10 for the base model roadster and your up to $90k. $10k doesn't leave much room for a TT or whatever the want to up spec it with.
going by the other thread on performance they could just change the ECU this would give a huge performance increase, and Nissan could charge $10k for this!
