Have a DB meter if you wish to catch up and test the loudness of the exhaust.

From what I understand it meets Japanese regulation. ie: 89Db

I have a friend with a dB meter and was going to borrow it but you're welcome to bring yours along. From my impressions so far I'd say it's definitely legal.

Awesome stuff Aps.

Your setup looks hot, I'm keen to see the results from the dyno.

What's next for you other than the Mines stuff?

I'm thinking suspension, something to bring the handling back towards neutral but we'll see.

Too much power is just enough

I'm deliberately avoiding major power upgrades at this stage until I see what comes along on the market.

Anyway, I put about 50km on the exhaust today so thought I'd give a little update to my impressions. Below about 3000 the sound is very deep, that doesn't really come across in the sound clip we've all heard. In fact it's so deep some people may not like it.

Once you rise past 3000 though it's other personality comes out which is nearer to the sound clip. Very smooth, exotic sound which clearly means business.

The other interesting part is that at idle or maintaining the throttle opening the sound dies away almost completely and it becomes barely louder than stock. Perfect for cruising past cops BTW these sound impressions are based on what I hear from inside. Could sound completely different outside.

Can't comment on increase in torque or power (although I believe both have seen a slight increase) but very noticeable is that the car feels more willing to rev. Revs rise more smoothly and don't drop off as much between shifts.

All up I think it's just about perfect (still not too keen on the tips from directly behind).

Having owned the Amuse for a while now, has the colour of the mufflers/tips changed from your original pics. ???

I love digging up old threads

Yes it has. In fact I took a pic just a week or so ago:

As you can see the tips have changed and have an orange tint (it looks darker than it actually is) and the piping ahs all changed as well. This was pretty much 3 months to the day BTW.

WOW
I was expecting to see a LOSS of colour.
The piping actually looks much better in blue

Speed Magazine has a advertisment from Hi Octane with a picture of the Amuse exhaust but it is the non colourful version, which made me wonder how heat affects it over time.
I'd rather blue piping.

I was expecting the cans to fade but they're the only part that hasn't changed.

At least the insides of those tips have fouled up. Remember that weird look when they were new?

IMHO they look great now.

Still looks a little strange from directly behind IMO but most people only seem to notice the colour. It must be more visable than I thought as I've had a lot of comments.

I'm still on the market for a exhaust just cant decide which way to go.
I love the Amuse, nothing better has come out since it was released IMO.
Yes more gains from the HiTec on the dyno, but its a full cat back.
Add the Y pipe and then its a fair comparison.
Last week I was sooooo close to ordering the new HKS Dual but discovered it was only the tips that are actually made of Ti, which is a real bummer as it would have been interesting to see the figures on an Aussie car.
It cost more than the Amuse and is stainless !!
So now I'll wait for a price on the ARC Dual
or get the Amuse with the Y pipe
