Question Amuse exhaust group buy?

OK, I just got back from speaking to a friend about a whole lot of possibilities for exhausts (and other things ) and I now have no interest in a dual exhaust, the Hi-Tech or one in anything other than Ti.

He can get *any* Japanese parts but right now I want an exhaust. I like the look of the Amuse cat back and the sound so that's what I'm going to go for.

There's a sound clip and pics in this thread. The sound clip is a bit hard to spot but it's a link at the bottom of the brochure scans.

Cost on this is not cheap but will be under AUD$3500. If anyone's interested in ordering one with me then we can get some decent savings. I'll be looking to order early August, possibly blowing out to mid August.

If I can get an idea of serious numbers I can get a more accurate price.

Man unless the gains are worth it it'll be way too expensive.

I've done a conversion from the amuse shop as follows for the full exhaust.

Live mid-market rates as of 2003.07.11 03:32:39 GMT.
198,000.00 JPY
Japan Yen = 2,554.43 AUD
Australia Dollars
1 JPY = 0.0129012 AUD 1 AUD = 77.5124 JPY

That doesn't include shipping and GST!

The sound is nice, a lot more agressive than Borla. But a bit metallic and poppy!

Can you find out how much it weighs? everything is in Japonese there .

EDIT: actualy it's another 98000 yen for the cat section
=1,264.30 AUD

Way expensive!

There's been a few threads on this forum about it. Weight is about 8.5kg Vs stock 22kg IIRC and gain is only about 8rwkw for the rear section ie up to the Y pipe.

The $3500 estiamte that I'm quoteing is the upper limit and is delivered to the workshop and so includes shipping, GST, import duty etc. The actual price is expected to be closer to $3300 but depends on exchange rates at the time and is for a single unit. The more they buy in a single order the cheaper they'll be.

As I said not cheap but I like the looks and the sound. In addition the dual pipes and mufflers suit me as later with a TT setup it could be cut at the flange and converted to a full dual system with 1 for each turbo.

I'm going to assume there's no interest in this so I'm going to go ahead and order, probably this weekend.

I did think about it for a while but didnt want to post anything to get your hopes up. Im still unsure as to which exhaust to go for if any.
Later this week I'll get some prices off local performance shops who say they can get good Z stuff, and will compare prices.
Will post if there's anything good

I understand. Given the price I didn't expect any takers but thought I'd ask anyway. If you or anyone else changes your mind in the next week let me know.

I can ask about the Nismo headers but don't expect them to be cheap. From what I've seen all of the Japanese headers are big $$$. Let you know on the weekend.

Nothing worth posting .
Its like they upmarked all the prices as soon as I mentioned the letter Z
Importing looks to be the cheapest option

Damn, sorry. I knew I forgot something. I'll call them tomorrow or Mon if they're not in tomorrow. Basically they won't charge more than RRP plus shipping and duty so if you know the RRP convert to AUD and add 30% you should get a rough estimate.

Sorry.

Zuffy, I haven't forgotten, just still working on it. There's something weird with these headers, they don't appear to be available outside the US and aren't listed in the new Nismo catalog. I suspect they're being made in the US and badged as Nismo over there. Should have confirmation later today if we can get an answer from them before they go home.

Out of interest:

Mines headers = 280,000yen (AUD$3600)
"No name" headers = 150,000yen (AUD$1950)

The no name ones are actually by a manufacturer in Japan that sells to tuning houses who then sell them as their own. They won't say who though but it's one of the big names.

The only other thing I was told was to be careful about buying US headers as they may not fit perfectly on a RHD car.

Thats correct. Just like the Nismo CIA isn't listed in the Nismo Japan book. This is because it's a NNA product (Nismo North America)
If they see a product selling well they make their own version , label it Nismo and sell it across North America.
These products are not official products and caution should be taken before asuming they will fit our cars.
Not saying they are bad products, just that they are "American Nismo" if you know what I mean

I haven't been able to confirm 100% but these do appear to be a NNA product and not a Japanese one. If you want them you'll have to order from a vendor in the US but at more than double the Borla ones I'd want to see proof that they're that much better.

Just had some interesting news regarding the Amuse exhaust I have on order. Apparently the design has been "improved" which delayed poduction. I have no idea what "improved" means but I hope it means more power without changing the sound much. The sound is one of the features I liked the most.

Anyway they're expecting it to ship end of next week and hopefully have it end of the week after that so I still ahve my fingers crossed I'll have it for the track day.
