350Z in NZ????
Hi all the forum we are on is called Australia/New Zealand right?
Where are the New Zealander's?
I have just been to the Nissan website and can see that the 350Z is available now. Not sure if this means that you can order one now or if they have actually hit the streets.
Anyway, I have made the following discoveries:
1) According to the pricing on the website, the Touring is NZ$64,990 and the Track is NZ$67,990. That's only $3k more. Why is our price difference so high between the two models?
From what I can see, at 1:18am, the models are the same as the Oz models.
2) According to the Comm Bank forex calculator as at 19/07/03, converting NZ$67,990 to AUD = AUD$56,190.
Not sure what the on-road costs are, but surely it's not much different to here.
Nissan Australia price for the Track = $65,990.
WTF is all this about??
Please someone, tell me I've got it all wrong!!

the extra 12.5% doesn't account for the extra 10 grand we pay.
There must be a higher luxury tax we are paying? Are you sure it's only 15%?
Almost makes one want to import the Z from NZ.

Yeah, we have to add the Luxury Tax on our cars. I don't know what the actual percentage is, but I recall that when I was buying the car in Feb, I estimated all taxes / duties to be about $5K, but I cannot remember how I came up with that. I was peeved (still am) at how much of my money the Govt takes when I buy a new car.
Our beloved AU Government takes 25c out of every dollar you spend over $59000 in Luxury Tax. That also includes the GST that gets added to the car as well, so it's a tax on a tax.
Luckily for those that have leased cars we don't pay the GST up front, we pay GST on the residual price at the time you sell it. So the luxury tax doesn't bite as deep, but it still hurts.
Yet another reason to use a salary sacrifice to buy a car if your employer offers it.
