The dyno graph is setup for 4th gear, the second run you see is superimposed on it so the scale is out.

Thats about right for redline at 4th, isn't it?!?

Something very strange.

The stock Z makes its peak power at aprox 6200rpm.
Zuffs peak power is at 160kph which equates to somewhere between 3rd & 4th gear which we know is impossible.
Why has his car got 7klw more power at 160kph than my race car
My car went on to peak at 176 in 4th gear.
All modern engines are assembled to very close tolerances by robots and would vary by only very small amounts.
Sorry Zuff but I think the last run you got at 149klw is probably the most likely figure & close to Apps base run of 147.5
Atmospheric conditions & tyre size can have an effect but my guess is that you are both still running with OEM tyres.
I can offer no explanation but something is not right

Nathan

Zuffy's graph is a run in 4th gear, with the scale printed for 4th gear. He got 160kW in 4th. After it was realised that the car should be run in 5th, they ran it in 5th and got 150kw. They printed that power curve (run in 5th)on the graph that had the 4th gear run. So the right hand most curve is the 5th gear run and the left hand curve is the 4th gear run.

You say that your car peaked at 176kW in 4th. Don't you mean 5th????
If it was 5th, which is the impression that I was under all along, then your car makes about 26kW more than Zufft's and Apps, which is what one should expect with an exhaust and mild cams.

Zuffy, I remember doing 160+ down the straight at Wakefield park and I was in 4th. High revs yes, but not 6,200. So Nathan's commemnt about max power in 4th at 160km/h being incorrect sounds valid.
Croydon screwed up your dyno and should have printed your 5th gear run on an accurate scale. Perhaps you should get another freeby run as you are relying on this for an accurate comparison with future modded dyno runs. I mean, you do not have an accurate speed on the x-axis of the graph, to compare with future graphs, even if the max power is accurate.

Zuffy, you tried to book your car in with HiTech yet? I called on Saturday and am still waiting for them to come back to me.

Yeh, I called twice... dunno if they are lazy or busy.

The dnyo graph is fuxored but the power is correct... Since it's on file i'll get Jim to reprint it in the correct scale.

The main thing was to get a baseline..so 149.9 is what i got on the monitor.

IMO you're better of waiting a week or two to dyno after fitting. Gives the car plenty of time to adjust to the changes.

Strange that they didn't know what gear to dyno in. They've done my car twice (once only days earlier) and Nathans once so they've done at least three runs.

Apsilon,
I think they did my car in 4th gear,
My graph shows max power at just under 200kph yet when I check the speed against revs 6200rpm = 180kph in 4th & 220 in 5th.
Why dont Dyno Dynamics dynos show rpm instead of speed like all the other dynos ?

Can't offer an explanation on the rpm Vs speed thing but isn't your redline 7100? Could that explain it?

Rev limiter & speed limiter has been removed.
The car is making more power right across the rev range but still peaks out at under 6500. I only use the extra revs to save changing up just before a corner on some tracks.
Your graph is wrong too.
Assuming they took the revs too 6500 in 5th gear your peak HP should be at over 220kph instead of just over 200.
I,m not saying the power reading is wrong, but that the line is superimposed over the wrong part of the graph.
All the graphs posted from other parts of the world show revs not speed.
What alerted me to this was that Zuffs car was showing more HP at 160kph than mine & I dont beleive that to be the case.
If I,m wrong lets swap motors Zuffy.

lol :P

I got the second print out from the data from Croydon but still doesn't seem right. Looks like they saved the data on the wrong scale to begin with and that can't be changed.

go figure! :-/

Oh well. As long as they do it the same way each time I don't mind. I'm only interested in comparing curves for one mod to the next.

dixonbn, have you dynoed the car? You might wanna do that.

Nathan, I met up with Jim from Croydon and he said the graph is correct. The peak power in 5th on my car is produced around 190km/h.
He said he'd be happy for us to both come down and compare dynos "on the house". I don't mind either! Let me know as i'll then move the install from Mon to Fri.

BTW Nathan i've left a PM with your dad's account, i wanted your contact details to bring my car down to modify the clutch.

Aps... Jim said the chart is dynamic thus if we kept it on it would have reached 220 but he stopped once the power started falling.

Hi-tech installed!

First impression! Turn the key.... VRRRooooooommmmm....RRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR (idle)
.... i get out to make sure it's my car and not someones elses...

First drive.... OMG... slip light is lighting up at every gear change. Time to learn to be gentle with the 350z, something foreign to me!

We'll see what power was made at the end of the week when i go to Croydon for a dyno.
