I installed a VDO sat nav system.

Fabrication wise alot of guys in the US just used really strong double side tape or basically glued it in. What I did was make a facia and support brackets that hold the screen in place. Used existing holes that were used to holed the cubby hole pocket. The brackets form a 3 point support in a triangle shape so that the screen does not fall out of alignment. Hard to explian in writing though.

Took me a good week to design the frame work as I prefer not to modify the existing car extensively.

There is plenty room behind the console so nearly anything is possible. The only problem is when you run 6 decent sized RCA leads to your head unit and trying to get them past the CAN module

If you already have the Sat system. Why don't you get a montorised single din tuner/LCD system ie: Alpine/Pioneer/Kenwood/Clarion ?

It would make life much easier for you

Hopefully take some pictures this weekend for you.

i own a clarion single din and i don't want to change it the sound system on the car. I just want to keep it as stock for a while. therefore i was thinking to get a screen that will fit the Nav Pocket. Autobarn sell bloody NESA 5.8" for AU$599 so why don't i get the 7" Farenheit, Which cost about US$350.

Therefore if anyone have a other good LCD that will fit on the pocket with out any modifcation would really help.

Thanks

Mr Rizk: i appreciate for you to take picture for me. I'll wait for it thanks

hi guys for the people in OZ want to install a 7" LCD and can be found in Australia, better go with

'Nesa Vision NRM-7001R 7" TFT-LCD WITH HEADREST MODULE'

I checked and compare it's dimension with Farenheit TMR7001 and they are compelete identical screen dimension. I suppose they both use the same LCD maker.

The only problem Nesa vision in Autobarn sells them for AU$999. On internet you can get Farentheit TMR-7001 for about AU$700 or below.

I hope this help for those who interested on 7" LCD on their Z

Cheers

The photo of my Sat Nav screen. This is not a 7" screen as I do not intend to watch DVD nor TV. All it is used for is Nav.

Sorry about the picture being a bit dark and the screen being dirty

Here is also a pic of the the JDM stereo finsher I managed to source. Basically managed to get the whole conversion kit including all brackets and pocket.

It is looks a hell of a lot better than the metra kit they sell in the US.

Hi MR.RIZK

Thanks so much for you picture

But i'm wandering what brand is your LCD? What Size? Do you have to make a frame to get the LCD fitted?

Off topic Question:

Did you upgrade your Bose subwoofer on your Stock Sub location?

The screen is part of the sat nav system. It is a 5.8" screen.

VDO

Yes I had to make the front facia and all the supporting brackets behind it.

I actually have upgraded the whole system.

Front
Boston Rally 6.5" splits in the front

Rear
Boston Pro 6.0" full range in the rear
AVI SS-250 sub in same location.

Alpine 5 Channel Amp running the show.

The sub was the hardest part. It is hard to explain but the sub is actually in a sealed 0.7 inclosure which is partially suspended in the air so it does not vibrate the surrounding panels in the factory location. The front doors have been sound deadend and the same with most of the rear.

I'm not into huge amounts of base, just clear sound and a decent imaging.

Did you dyno mate your Sub area as well? Because i was considering on just add a new Sub and probably an Individual Amp to power the Sub.
