Default This lousy website

This site is the slowest site I visit. Talk about the world wide wait ! ! ! Every window takes forever, even on the backbutton.
And getting onto the forum usually takes 1/2 doz attempts - cant
save the log in cookies - and get "no posts for 30 days" bullsh*t
all the time.
They want to take a look at 350zforum.com - don't even have
to open a window to preview most of message.

Yeah, GRUMP, GRUMP, GRUMP - but it just could be better.

FROSTY. (OLD FART)

Frosty I don't have any of your problems.... dunno why! But i don't!

It used to be slow but now it's normal for a US site. Are you on ADSL/cable? If not then yeh it would suck!

As for features it's got a good range of stuff... you could PM Victor if you think the site is missing an uber feature. For me it's on par with 350motoring and at least this site doesn't go down for months at a time.

IMHO anyway

Snowman, maybe its your settings or something. I too dont have the problems you are having.

You should have been here a while ago when it would take 10 minutes to load a page if it actually loaded.

As always

It's not too bad given the size of the forum and as Harry said you should've seen it a while ago, it's improved 10x recently.

I do find it speeds up considerably if I don't have the firewall on. I also can't get any of the gallery pics to load if I have the firewall active. I suspect it's blocking a cookie or something but can't be bothered looking into it. It's a site problem as this is the only site that displays those quirks. The content makes up for those little problems IMHO.

Don't forget it is free.

I find it slow sometimes for the Aus regional forum as I suspect it is on a seperate dog box. Unlike the modifications forum I find usually quite quick.

Frosty's right - this site takes too long to load up even now. With optus cable I wait about 10s, whereas when I access other us sites, they tend to appear in 1/10th - 1/3 of the time it takes to load here. Do what I do and open up several windows and get each window to load up as you read a post.

KY350 stop using the optus proxy...it suxors!

I used to run cable until I moved to Hunters Hill where they think they are too good to have over head cables , and the proxy gets over loaded (ie. all users just set proxy:8080).

I found things worked better most of the time by running direct from the cable.

Also make sure you cache the pages so that you don't have to load all the grafix all the time.

I'm on 512kbs adsl and it's average for US standards, about 3 secs to load the main page. MY isp is ozforces...aka Comindico...aka leechers heaven...in other words it should be slow !

Im with the fat! I have ADSL at work, which I suppose in the long run I pay for anyway. I have no dramas whatsoever with the load up speed.

At home though I only have a modem and at times it is a little slow. Still not as bad as it once was though.

As always

Default world wide wait

The significant point is that this site is so much slower than
OTHER sites that I visit - that rules out my modem speed factor
since the factors are the same for all sites.

But the biggest annoyance is the persistant "no posts for 30
days" windows that come up when trying to enter, not to mention
the "page expired" when going back from doing a quick post - and
this necessitates the train of events to reload and - you guessed
it - "no posts" etc again.

Gonna go an' ava drive - f**k the web - H: wanna burn?

The only time I get the "no post' page is when the cookie to enable auto-logon is not working. I got it just after deleting all my cookies in my monthly bout of paranoia when I put on my tin-foil hat to stop the satellites reading my thoughts.

Do you need to logon each time you come back to the board? If so check that you have cookies enabled in your browser or maybe permissions in whatever firewall software you may have aren't set up right.

Frosty it's your setup... the site speed has nothing to do with cookies.

Once you get that right you won't get all these issues, which we don't have ! It's you're cookies mate! I'm tellin ya!

Better you're cookies than your nuts! [sad j/k, soz in advance]

Thanks all! Got a little (and very efficient) program called webwasher which saves nominated cookies while otherwise
clearing all the **** out. Bit like a set of extractors!
Yeah, save the cookies, and sometimes as today, logs in no prob.
While on the subject of programs, could recommend ad-aware -
you'd be surprised how many little exe's are on your system
after a bit of Zurfin'.
H won't gimme a burn!
