Default Anything new for 2004?

I am just ordering a Track Auto for February 2004 delivery. Does anyone know if there is a "series 2" or update model due between now & next May and what will be the updates?

AFAIK, there is no updated series 2.

The 04 has some minor cosmetic changes, (knee pads, seat belt extenders) but nothing major. Nissan dont really need to bring out a "new" model whilst this one is selling so well world wide!

As always

Thanks Harryw

do you know the timing for the updates - I'd sooner wait an extra month & have the updates.

AFAIK they are in all 04 models.

If you order now you will get an 04 model. Just check with your freindly Nissan dealer.

PS there is also at least 1 other "power source".

Well the roadster must be the "2004" version as it has the knee pads and the set belt extender. I've read two reviews which talked about a padded centre console - but mine doesn' have one so I'm not too sure what they are on about???

After listening to the bose system for the last 2 weeks or so, that obviously hasn't changed as I think the sound is a bit crappy which appears to be the general consensus.

I checked out the new knee pads / seat belt extenders / sat nav lid on the roadster at the Sydney Motor Show. Then asked the Nissan reps on the stand (they actually work as sales guys at various dealers) if any of the above or other was planned for the 04 coupe. All I got was ????? looks. The reps complained that they did not even have a tech spec brochure on the roadster at that stage, so I still don't know how heavy the raodster is. We can't really complain about the sales guy's lack of knowledge, when Nissan Corporate treat them like mushrooms.
BTW, I was at the motor show on day 2 and Nissan had 7 orders for the coupe from the show alone!!!

This Months Wheels Mag has a favorable road test on the Roadster, stating its 86kg heavier than the Coupe. the knee pads have been an option in Japan for over a year and where available through japanparts.com, but hopefully through your not soon informative Nissan dealer.

Thanks fpor the response to the weight of the roadster. The knee pad has never been an issue for me - could have something to do with the fact i'm over 6' and left knee doesn't touch the plastic from memory.

Are those accessories available in the local dealer (knee pads/seat belt extender)?

Anyone have pics of the knee pads?

Ray, you can see and buy the knee pads at japanparts.com. At the current exchange rate it is $415 plus all the gst etc. That's only for one!

Dont know if you can buy the seat belt extenders? Perhaps ring local Nissan shop if you need.

So you can imagine what the local dealers would want for them.

$415 is a rip off pure and simple.
Go to Nissan dealer and check out the roadster to size up the knee pad and position.
Go to Clark Rubber - buy foam for $10.
Cut to shape.
Buy small side of Brahman hide, coloured black and take to bootmaker to cover foam - $60.
Buy velcro - $5
Stick female velcro to centre console and male velcro to pad.
There you have a velcro kneepad for $75 and $350 in the bank!

You forgot to add one thing. Before covering foam, take leather somewhere to have a little Z logo embroided on it. Just to be different.

I just went to a local Nissan dealer and asked them about that seat belt extenders.

They said that they knew nothing about it being on the coupe model, only on the roadster (and it's a different piece).

I guess the only way of getting this is from the US guys.

Im still dextrous enough (just) to reach the seat belt with no troubles. The passenger, on the rare occassion someone is in the car with me, doesnt pay the bills so they can strectch.
