I have a problem with road debris on the expressway "peppering" the front of the car.
Because you're always going at a fair tilt, even minute grains seem to leave their white signature.
I tried retouching with touchup, but that's laborious and the touchup is in most cases as unsightly as the chip.
In desperation I tried some
Turtle Wax COLOR MAGIC, applied with a Mothers sponge applicator. (Beaut for applying ANY wax, etc)
The effect is to fill the tiny pock marks with colour - which it did very efficiently.
PRESTO! Car front looks as good as new! All the chips and swirls and scratches are gone.
With regular polish I finished up with white u/coat or white polish dust highlighting the blemishes.
Since my car's the real colour, I used RED.
You less fortunate chaps with the
Primer redlead
Biro blue
Silvafrost
Octopus ink black
can get colours to suit. And it's a darn good polish also.
There's another one I've tried with no success - it had a crayon of colour with it for the larger dings - but I had no success with the crayon or the polish. Name escapes me - not going down to the shed unless you really want to know.

Hmmm - I spent the weekend fixing chips. I applied touch-up paint with a cloth dabbing it on the chip area with as little an over lap as possible, let it dry and then polished the excess off with a block under a clean cloth using a very fine finishing compound. Took hours but the chips are filled with paint - I use a jewellers loupe to look at it. You polish may work in the short term but is not a permanent solution.

Still a good suggestion for your odd colour….Daytona Blue is the best colour tho. LOL.

Yes it is very tender. The US site is full of complaints on this subject. I doubt we would win any claim because Nissan will point out it caused by a stone. If that is the case why is my Camry bought 3mths earlier and driven more kms is completely free of this kind of chip??

 

I approached Nissan about this...."sorry we don't warranty environmental conditions" was their answer. I have the same argument. I have a 2 year old Falcon XR6 with far less paint chips on it. When I said this to te Nissan rep his comment was " I don't care what your Ford has, we are talking about the Nissan"

Strange that the 200sx is fine but the 350z is a dog when it comes to the paint.

Where was this thing built? Not in Japan thats for sure. Mexico?

 

A bit of interesting info that in part might explain the "tender" paint on the Z - my panel friend says that the problem is inherently in the substrate - ie the soft plastic that is the substitute for the metal used in a lot of cars.
A sharp missile (debris) can easily penetrate the plastic but cannot mark the brittle metal - therefore no crater is created and consequently less damage ensues.
Hope that puts is in understandable terms.
Seems logical to me.

Yeah its 'tender' for sure. I had the car for a few days and tried to scratch of a bit of dirt with my finger nail while I was washing the car and I scratched the paint!

Im really fussy about stuff like this (especially swirl marks!) and I wasnt very happy with my accomplishment .

Never heard of it sorry. I need to do more research on the topic. I think I might get one of the ones which takes all grit off the car first then puts a few clear shinny layers etc for protection and hopefully remove the swirls.

 

Have anyone seen that scotchguard product that is applied to the car that dries clear that is supposed to stop the chips? I do not know the name, but saw a demo of it on two guys garage.

I've imported zaino from a shop in Singapore. This stuff really is great. Got rid of all the surface contaminants with a clay bar and then washed the car with Dawn (detergent), then applied Zaino. Only the worst rock chips showed up, all swirl marks, pitting, paint defects got cleaned up and covered up.

And this is a car polish! I never expected it to get the car looking better than new but it has. HIGHLY RECOMMEND IT!

If you use this with a good touch up paint you'll probably never know you ever had a chip in the first place.

The reason I did it was that with zaino bird ****, gum from trees and polution can't stick to the car. You just hose it off. Beats CG hands down.

 

How much is all up when you import it?

 

you know that you don't have to import from Singapore. Coz australia do have their distributor.

you can either:
get the starter kit 1 or the Profesional one kit.

if you are trying to cover the Scratch or swirl. Why not add the Z5 in as well. It applied just like normal Polish.

 

The dealer from Singapore is cheaper even after shipping.

I baught a whole bunch of stuff for the whole car. Cost me 150 plus 30 bucks ship[ping if i remember correctly. It would have cost me well over 250 from the Oz website.

As for what you need! Z2 +Zfx +Z6... anything else is extra. And yes if you have swirles Z5.
