I can't believe that I"M the only one experiencing the tyre roar?feathering problem.

Will some of you do this simple procedure and report please:

When slowing down thru 40k and down without brakes lightly apply the brakes and listen for a "roar" a bit like wheel bearing failure on both sides front, or again like you just moved onto very coarse and noisy pavement.

Mine's so bad that cornering at moderate speeds or less creates the roar.

What ****** me most is the lack of adhesion in corners which follows from the feathering - it's like you're only driving on the tips of the tyre blocks.

Fuggen.

I hadn't looked at my tyres for a while so just went out and had a look at all four. Still no signs of feathering and I have about 10,700km now (haven't done many ks in the last few months). I've also never experienced the roar apart from on very coarse roads as expected.

I got 10000 kms on the car. I get the roar when braking from slow speed but i also get the same noise from the Dunlop Sport 9000 on my Falcon XR6. I have been told in the past that this is common with directional tyres. I also do not have excessive feathering of the tyres.... but then again I do not drive around like a lunatic!!!!

I've 15100+km on the clock and no roar. The tires are in great condition. But I also don't drive like a lunatic, most of the time anyway.

15,500km and no feathering or roar.
To eliminate your roar, drive faster and break harder. Works for me!!!

I put those 4500ks on it in 1 month, so you get a life! The one month I had it before they took my lisence away for 9 months(hence the govt. in my first post). I get it back on March 4.

P.S. The loosing the lisence was unrealted to my new Z purchase.

I've got 21,000k's in just under a year and at around 12,000k I started to notice the roar from the front when slowing down and at 17,000k it's got so bad I took it to the dealer with a copy of the US TSB and asked them to fix the problem. "Sorry mate we know nothing about it must be a problem with the US cars". So it's fix it yourself!! I've had the tyres front and back rotated (removed from rims) got it realigned and that has reduced the roar to a loud murmur. Anyway I'm not waiting for Nisshit to bring out a fix I've ordered the Nismo full S-Tune suspension including the sway bars and looking at the EVO adjustable camber top arm/strut in the future.

The S-Tune should be here from Japan next week.

Frosty,

I got the roar happening just as you described at 35-40km/h, worse when braking - posted about this in another thread. The problem was tyre noise and resolved when I got the front tyres taken off their rims and changed to the opposite front rim. Started happening at around 18,000 km.

Cheers

Neil

I'm just coming up for my 20,000 service and I've definitely got the roar happening - no feathering though. My plan is to get an alignment done at time of service and ask the question of the dealer. I had a similar issue with my sti on the same Bridgestones as the Z (I was convinced that a bearing was on the way out) so it may be something that comes with the territory. I'd love to say that a good thrash eases the noise but I've only got one point left just now and I'm driving around like a wealy wealy old man!
