Default nismo flywheel is out of my car...

Hello guys,

THis is the most updated report from me....

After driving 2 weeks with nismo flywheel, the experience is great, acceleration can be felt from the first time I got it and the rev can be picked up pretty fast at lower rpm too, but it starts to get slightly noisier and my fiancee and me are pretty sensitive to the noise too. We decide to go back to the stock setup at this stage since nissan is checking out my gear shifting (gearbox) for me.

Nissan is taking that out for me today and I was actually thinking about keeping that until later on, but I think I will try to sell it at this stage.

If anyone is interested in Nismo Flywheel, give me a PM and we can discuss about the price! I bought it from performance nissan and paid another 230 AUS on top of the price for shipping and tax.

cheers,

richie

told you all it is inevitable, a lightweight flywheel is going to make some noise, this is a fact, simply ignoring it doesnt mean its not there.

about my JWT, it seems to me it is not as noisy as before, but I know this is not true, may be I've got used to it already, or my ears hv learnt to tune out that particular frequency

richie, hope you enjoyed the car while the flywheel was there

thats too bad.
Goes to show not every mod has to be a good mod.
But I am sure everyone here now has a better idea of what to expect from a lighter flywheel and can decide if it suits them.
Thanks for posting your opinions Richie

no worries guys.... based on my flywheel experience, I noticed that my flywheel noise is A LOT quieter than ypwat's one. I still don't get why though, probably due to diff. gearbox as mine is the 1st batch in Australia.

It might also due to the wear of the clutch... my clutch worn out less than his and that might be why.

cheers,

richie

What is that in USD? Shouldn't you replace the clutch when you add aftermarket flywheel, or does it even matter?

I think he means he paid 475 USD(?) + 230 AUD for the flywheel, not selling it at 230 AUD...

edit: that is the price from Performance Nissan

Sorry to hear about that. Your hearing must be extremely sensitive - the flywheel in mine can be hear at idle.. but not much.

The sound, however, is not big deal --- particularly when compared to gains in overall performance and driving pleasure.

I know we've covered this topic already and we've come to the conclusion that the only flywheel for the Zed would be a light weight dual mass flywheel but... I had heard in the past that chromoly flywheels make less noise than aluminum ones in other cars and I just saw a post where a Zed owner states that the Jun flywheel is chromoly and that its resonance levels are only a bit more than stock. A website where you can purchase also states this fact, though i'd be inclined to believe the person more than the website.

Just thought it was interesting and i'll be looking into it a bit more to find out how loud it is compared to the Alu ones.

Oh i think somepeople have posted their comment about it. They said there is a rattling noise as well. So i guess is not much different than Aluminium one or Nismo.

Did you see the Tilton flywheel with the new pressure plate? Its supposed to be a bit more driver friendly. There is a movie of him driving and reving it etc, It rev extremely fast!

It wouldnt void your warranty, but if you had problems with it Nissan would not cover under warranty. Same goes with any mod including all NISMO ones as there is no NISMO in AU.

We asked the Nissan Dealer here in Melbourne All nismo is covered in warranty by nissan.
Asked Z350lover's Dealer in Melbourne.

Also if you install the nismo by Nissan dealer than they will cover your warranty. But Jwt, and other won't. That's what the dealer have told me. But just incase ask your dealer, because every dealer have a different view.

Cheers

Yes every dealer does have their own view on everything, I asked one who said he contacted Nissan and they said that its not covered.

So if anyone is purchasing for this reason I would check with the dealership who would be fixing the warranty claim.
