Yes the Nissan Forged Rays, 8 front 8.5 rears which is the same as the 18' Track rims but much lighter and stronger also you can order the Nismo LM GT4 18" rims 8.5 front 9.5 rears from Nissan spare parts if you want to to pay through the nose.

APS:

It is the same in Victoria then... probably they all follow the same rule.... because if the offset is correct the track should not be changed too much (as the track is measure from the centre of one wheel to the centre of the other, right?), just like my nismo wheels at the rear, it has +30 offset which is the same as the OEM wheel, but just 1" wider, so that will be within the legal spec then...

So I guess NRMA is a lot cheaper again than GIO then? too bad that we don't have NRMA here, only RACV... that's why I go with GIO because I just saved myself nearly a rego too from going to GIO.

cheers,

5 years.... I had a fault accident about 4 years ago, damn.... but I think that isn't going to make any diff. and they did ask me for the license suspension those kind of legal stuffs...

EDIT:

David is correct.... can get my nismo wheels from spare parts department.... so I guess I am quite safe because at least nissan offers them and guess it is not illegal?!

Oh David... I think the standard track rear rims are 8", correct?

cheers,

richie

I've the standard track rims (not the forged ones) and they are 8" front and back.

So the question is, if I get the NISMO wheels, will NRMA insure me or not.

That's up to the NRMA. They'll be legal but that doesn't mean they'll insure you.

don't think they will insure you as mchapman already mentioned that NRMA does not insure him with 9.5J wheels, the most that they will accept is 8.5J

Thats right, NRMA will NOT insure any larger than 8.5 in the rear. They checked with their legal department and its a no go.

So GIO want 5 year record as well, great.

Check the offset tho..as was said earlier NSW is 25mm total track.
ie wheel centre to centre....

OK this has taken me a while to do, but I have my record printed out, not good, and i'll be getting my father to speak to GIO tomorrow to see what they will charge for insurance. Ive told him to give false names but incase that doesnt work I will only be trying GIO as I dont want all insurance companies to have my details on file incase I need insurance with them at later dates.

Its 1.5 Pages long and I truly think they will laugh in our faces. Maybe it wont be too bad as im a second driver though I think they are all clued onto people doing this.

If it fails i'll be ordering new wheels.

Wow... 1.5 pages?! geeee.... that a really massive record! Just an update to you...

My friend had trouble finding insurance as well... he JUST bought a rx-8 last week and is still under 25 years of age.... claimed once fault accident previously on his bimmer under RACV for 40K AUS also the license had got suspended when he was on the way back to Melbourne from Sydney... GIO definitely will not insure him as a second driver (under 25) although the car is going under his father's name (rating 1 with perfectly good record), and RACV is asking for 7000 for insurance price... under his father's name WITH him as a second driver... so what he is doing right now is to insure the car under his father for 1500 and he just needs to drive it VERY CAREFULLY... that's the best he could find so far!

Good luck on the insurance issue....

cheers,

richie

But if there are no other drivers listed will insurance pay out in the case of an accident anyway?

1.5 pages? You've been a bad boy.

No they wouldnt pay out, he would have to convince the other driver involved to let him say that his Dad was driving, thats providing that the cops werent involved. Unless hes listed as a occasional driver, but even then they would try to get out of paying if they believed that he was the one doing all the driving.

1.5 pages, it is all my last car and nothing to do with the Zedd. Im very lucky to have a License, Zed and Insurance(I am under no dilusions). I do believe though that my driving style is completely different now as I have to shift the gears manually(j/k).

Note: I can now heal and toe. Further development required to go pro, but am using it during daily driving to improve.

why wouldnt they pay out? the policy clearly stated if an accident is caused by an unlisted driver he'll have to pay a premium on the excess, usually ~$1500 more.
So unless the policy stated that a certain person cannot drive the vehicle, they cannot refuse to pay out..... unless the driver caught drink driving as well and is above the limit.

If the policy states that then maybe, but in my experiences they have tried to get out of paying when people ARE listed, so I would bet money that they would try pretty hard to get out of paying a claim when someone else ISNT listed and especially if they total the car. And you want your insurance to cover every type of crash etc. IMO its a bit of a $66k gamble.

It's a LOT of a gamble.

Forgive me if I've misread or misunderstood, but, is this whole issue just over the rims?

If it is, just put the standard ones back on, sell the Volks and move on! Why would anyone want to take a gamble like that just for a set of rims, LOL!

As always
