Default Rear Parking sensor

Can anyone advise or suggest a cure for this. I bought the Nissan parking sensor with my 2004 Z coupe, but find that it has a fairly weak audible alarm which gets drowned out by the louder reversing audible warning. I asked my Nissan delaer if they could disable the reversing audible warning so that I could properly hear the other one, but they tell me it cant be done.

Since this accessory cost around $1000 Australian dollars, and I was not told that a conflict of the 2 audible warnings would occur I am rather disappointed I chose this feature.

Does anyone have any experience with this, or know if the reversing sound can actually be disabled without causing other problems. ?

Im by no means an expert but I would bet there would be a fuse that could be pulled!

I know they can do that for other alarms like the door etc.

As always

PHILBY - I've got reversing sensors and 2 z's to reference.

Both are '03 Tracks - neither have reversing audibles, and the aftermarket reversing sensors put in by the dealer are very audible and give a led visible digital distance indication also.
The frequency of beeping increases as the distance decreases and becomes continuous at 400mm.

Was about $600 per car as best I can remember, since it was part of a package with useless paint protection and some grossly overpriced accessories.

Sometimes I think they make more out of pushing accessories than in selling the car!

Not relevant, but paid $650 for an imobiliser in the WRX - found the identical thing on the web for $40-odd from the importer.

HARRY - I reckon that to pull a fuse will probably disable a number of desirable functions at the same time - maybe just cut a wire to the transducer (beeper thingo)?

FROZTY

That's it, now - beam me up, scotty . . .

SHIZZLE, WTF have you been on today - "TRANSDUCER"!

You've been watching star wars or something?

Han to Luke - "just cut the wire to the transducer"

Luke to Han - "WTF is transducer Han"

Han to Luke - "it's the beeper thingo, just cut the wire!!!"

As always

Apparently the autos beep when they're in reverse Frosty. Nissan must have had parts left over from a truck or something.

As for the actual problem it's got to be coming from a speaker of sorts somewhere. Just find that and unplug or cut it. Actually before doing that demand your money back from the dealer as it's worthless. Doubt they'll want to remove it as they'll then need to repair your bumper so you'll end up with it for free and if you can then disable the beeper thing you'll be set.

Thanks for your feedback Harry, Frosty and Apsilon. My Nissan dealer told me that cutting wires or even disconnecting speakers could upset the cars electronic monitoring system. So I would hesitate to go to that. I wasnt aware the Manuals didnt have the reversing audible warning. Thats something I dont need, I know when I'm reversing. The parking sensor is genuine Nissan (at least it was order from the Nissan accessories brochure). I guess it was fitted by my local dealer. I'm in the mood to follow Apsilon's advice and claim my money back for an expensive accessory which is useless.

This may be stupid. But is the beeper part of the reverse bulb? You can buy reverse bulbs that have the beep as part of the bulb itself.

Just a thought.

All thoughts are welcome. I will check in to it. The audible sound appears to come from a speaker inside the car. Must e some other Z auto drivers out there with parking sensors - what do they think ?
