Default Has Anybody had a Bose Upgrade From Nissan?

I was interested to see if anybody has been successful in getting a Bose Strereo upgrade from Nissan. If you have, how did you do it?

My car was delivered in March 2003 and suffers from the much reported poor base response and muffled sound associated with that model system. About 6 months back I listened to a new model Z and the difference in the Bose was like night and day. The more recent model had good sound clarity and I could feel the base in the back of the drivers seat, rather than the pathetic excuse what is classed as a sub woofer in my car.

This is my only real "beef" with the car and I wish Nissan would own up and just fix it. It is apparently a simple amplifier change out.

After many email exchanges and 'phone conversations with Nissan which at first ranged from "we don't know of any problem with Bose systems, even in the USA and dispite all the USA TSB's" to the last response which was " Your system works.... the latest amplifier upgrade is merely one of ongoing product development and not related to customer complaints or deficiencies in the current system".

What a lot of frogsh*t. They just won't address the issue. Considering that it is a Bose problem for which they have a solution, it is most frustrating. Nissan want me to pay to upgrade the amplifier.

Malcolm - been through it all - all you'll get from NISSHIT is blankety-blank ********.

They've got a FU**ing lousy name for denial of fault in this country. Hate them!

Bose will acknowledge your problem - mine is the same model as yours so I know what ***** your'e talking about!

But Nisshit will go into denial.

See my posts regarding this stuff.

Look at the international forum for details.

There's even a TSB about it all.

Just bought 2 4wd's for the reps - guess which brand NOT!
(They both wanted Navaras!)

Malcolm - perhaps when you next go to the dealer, turn on you stereo and do a side by side comparison with a new Z in the showroom to point out the problem.

I believe this is the only way that Nissan may acknowledge the problem, when they hear it.

KY350 - I did that. The dealer was quite sympathetic and acknowledged my complaint but as my system "sounded OK" they did not want to change it out.

My only option now may be to remove the back floor cover, disable the amp in question (many electronic components in there) and report a fault. At least I will get a new amplifier that will fix the problem.

No not really...that would dishonest. I will leave that avenue up to Nissan, to continue to deny all knowledge of any reported faults on the Bose system.

Frosty - I guess that's all we can do in the end - answer Nissan with our feet and not buy their cars.

The fault is one issue, but just the task of continually following Nissan up is a real hassle. They must work on the premise of ignoring complaints that haven't casued a car to stop running, until people just give up in frustration.

I had my amp replaced under warranty. Before, the music was muffled but had a lot of bass. Now it's clear sounding and with the bass level turned up to 5, I don't have the bass that I used to have. Just sounds like I have some 6x9's.

Same there, got mine early Feb 03 and have the same underwater sounding feature in mine, maybe an email to the Motor mag. as they are asking for feed back from owners.

Its this total lack of after-sales support from Nissan management that ****ing ***** me.

Aside from not supporting motorsport in this country (even though they try to advertise the Z as a great sports car, and keep reproducing the comments in various car magazines backing that claim up) they won't support any type of motorsport.

I've got friends with S14s and S15s who report the same attitude from Nissan. With whatever niggling or known faults (the 6 speed manual in the S15 has design problems with 5th gear which means it will fail if you drive it hard), Nissan just denies it and doesn't want to deal with it.

I am giving some serious thoughts to the Evolution 8 at the moment, because of all this.
