Question Where can I get magnetic racing numbers that stay on at 100mph+ ?

I had some magnetic racing numbers from some Autocross web site (forget which one), but they flew off my car on the race track yesterday so I guess they were not made for 100mph+

Can anyone point me to some that would? Thanks.

http://www.palmersigns.com/decals3.htm

I got this in one of my emails from trackmasters. I don't know these particular numbers are but I know that the antistatic work better than magnetic. I've lost all of my magnetic number on track so now I just use good old number 11 for an easy tape job.

Another thing that you can do is to bevel the leading edge of the magnetics.

The vinyl will work better for those that use their cars as daily drivers as they won't scratch the paint as magnetic ones do. Just something to consider.

I've had good luck with my 10" #'s from www.solotime.com

A couple friends have also had good luck at speeds over 140 mph.

I think this is another time where bigger IS better!

Over time they just scratch. I have some friends that are as meticulous and careful as can be, they have track Miatas so they don't see over 100mph a whole lot! But even so, they lose numbers and worse than that, they abrade the paint and dull and scratch it. You can get vinyl stickies for cheap (though of course over time they cost more because you can only use them once each time.)

I have used http://www.quickstickers.com/ and found their product to be good quality, easy to apply and with an almost infinite variety of typeface style and color. If you go with a track group and get an assigned number, then you know for a whole season or longer that you are going to use the number, and if you have track days reasonably close together, you can just leave them on for a couple of weeks if you really want to pinch pennies. (And you are not in an area where the constabulary is not going to be hazing you for having numbers on the car). To reduce the street "profile" I put mine on low and just in front of the rear wheels. Very easy to see on the track for the corner workers but not as noticeable on the street as when you plunk right in the center of your doors!

Otherwise, I go with Dave's advice. Just get the painters masking tape from Home Depot and put your skill to the test.

Just put a little tape on the front edge of the number and that will do it.

Yes this works good. I use some clear packing tape on my numbers during track days and havn't lost one yet. Just carry alittle goo-gone for the residue after.

check out Pro Tape Signs and Graphics. I have not yet personally used them, but I have a couple friends who have them and rave about the quality of the numbers and the service from the company. And these are TT Z32 guys so the numbers definately see over 100mph
