I would definitely want to look more closely at the instructions and bring them by my body shop. I have a few other things I need done over there anyways. I am very interested in the procedure for removing it; since I imagine that part I would need to be able to do on my own

roark, would you please explain for someone with zero trailer experience what each of these items is, what's needed for a complete installation, and why one would choose one or the other?

1) Class 1 draw bar kit - $399 (Ball not included)
2) Class 1 1-1/4" receiver kit - $379
3) Power Isolated wiring harness - $59
4) Additional 1-1/4" receiver for option 1 - $59

Also, what else will we need to get from other sources (like the ball?) and how much should we expect it to cost?

Finally, will you be posting updates on the other thread with the number of orders as they come in? Just so we don't miss the boat.

Sure.

Option 1 is the basic kit for hooking up a light duty trailer. The draw bar with a ball of your choosing is what the trailer actually connects to. You would add the Power Isolation wiring harness (option 3) if the trailer is lighted (most are.)

Option 2 is the basic kit for hooking in a back rack. Usually, you don't need a wiring harness for a bike rack if this is all you're doing with it.

Option 4 is an addition to option 1 in case you want the ability to do both.

So, if you are looking at hauling a lighted trailer, you would need Options 1 and 3.

Does this make sense? I had so many people want different things that I decided to go this modular route. Sorry if it makes things confusing.

Let us know how the orders are coming. I'm still on the fence for now, since I may not be running enough events this year to justify the trouble and expense of obtaining a trailer. (Also, I'm still waiting to hear from John if he's really going to uninstall his hitch.)

I'd like to say that I really like mine!

I towed my tire trailer from Vancouver, WA to Topeka, KS and back, and had absolutely no problems with towing. Most of the time I had to double-check to make sure that I still had the trailer back there, it towed so well!

I'm still interested, but am just considering whether this is the right time, since for work and financial reasons, I don't expect to be able to do as many track events this year as I have in the past.

Also, I STILL HAVEN'T HEARD FROM JOHN about getting his old one. Too busy buying trucks, I guess.

If you get close to the minimum, I may be able to join in, but I didn't want to commit now and have to crap out later.

Have you ever used emachineshop? If you send me the plans for this I can convert it to emachineshop specs and post the file up, that way everyone who needs this can simply download emachineshop, put this file in the software and order it from them.

OK, let's try for another group buy. Here's the new thread in the GB section. I lowered the minimum participation to 9. I'll have to do a bit a fair bit of the fabrication myself to pull it off, but I think it's worth it to get a few more kits out on the street.

I've seen references to the Hoppy converters and something from Nissan. Can someone post the respective part numbers of these converters?

Also, if anyone's done this with a 2006 Z, I'd like to hear of any gotchas waiting for me.
