Default Transponder Loaction?

I just installed a transponder and wire tied it to the grill pointing down . It did not get a pickup at Laguna Seca. In talking to one of the timmers he said that the instructions that say it will go through plastic is wrong and I must have a direct line of sight. So my question is where is everyone mounting there transponder?

Your suggestions greatly appreciated.

It will go throught thin plastic, but where you located it, it probably was too thick (going through bumper and splash shields) try mounting it to the front inner fender liner pointing down, should work fine.

I've seen people make custom mounts with their liscence plate brackets. Not sure of the exact details but something to think about. Maybe you could even get creative with the tow hook.
What kind of transponder did you get?

I got a hard wired unit and I will add a switch when not in use.

C Ray Z, just hard wire it into a power wire that is hooked to something that turns off and on with the ignition, that way you never have to worry about turning the transponder on or off yourself...
