Insurance yanked my coverage because I Solo
Yesterday, I discovered that my insurance for the last 10 years pulled coverage on my 350z because I Solo2. They consider it "racing" hence, voids the terms of their agreement. There's also a clause in there which indicated after market parts are not allowed. Not only was I a long-time customer, but I've been claim-free (of my fault) during that time and haven't had a ticket in over 6 years...
It's not like I expect coverage when at an event, but unfortunately they don't allow an exclusion policy. Canadian thing I guess...
Any ideas getting around it without having to lie or be deceitful? I'm more worried about increasing my personal liability should an accident happen on the street. I could see the insurance company bailing on coverage because of past motorsport activities not related to that incident.
Any carriers out there with enough common sense to know the difference between motorsport activities and street racing? Perhaps I should put my vehicle under a corporate entity to add a barrier to potential increased liability?
How do you guys truthfully get around it? And if it's not truthful, are you not worried about the risks?

How did they find out? My insurance company did a review and asked me if I had a radar. It took me a pause and I shriekingly said no.
Just call again and talk to a different representative.

Just because his insurance guy races with him, it doesn't mean that he'll be covered if something happens at an AutoX event. It's standard policy for ins. companies to exclude accidents that occur at "timed" events.

AltaLad, what's the name of your Cdn insurance company? Their policy sounds fair enough for me.
I'd be a happy man if I could have coverage on the street while agreeing to no coverage during Solo.
However, 'The Cooperators' (hypocritical name eh?) won't cover me on the street even if I agree to no coverage while Autocrossing.
I agree with the genericness of the word "racing". I was told it's considered any type of timed run or running simultaneously with other cars. Worse case scenario, I came up with a plan last night to go ahead and Autocross but simply ask not to be timed. Solo2 has always appealed to me more on pushing the car rather than direct competition.
The insurance found out because I was rear ended (in the 350z no less) last fall and I was quite concerned about the frame alignment. I explained that it was critical for my weekend hobby, Solo2.

You guys really need to read your policy carefully. Every company is different. I was surprised to read in my policy that ALL coverage on my car is excluded while in or on any race track property, didn't matter if I was driving, racing, being taught or parked. Being an independent agent, I got some other policies out and read what they covered and found they were not as restrictive, however coverage was still ambiguous.
