I was planning on signing up for this event, but my commission check got delayed...I am jelous, Buttonwillow is my favorite track so far, but I have only run there and Spring Mountain Motorsports Ranch. Have fun and be careful over lost hill.

Lost hill doesn't bother me. My achilles heel is Talladega. After 20 track events there I'm still a chickensh#t for serious speed in that turn.

Which one is Talladega? Do you mean the Riverside Sweeper?

Yes, that's the one. We've always called it Talladega for some reason. To many names to remember. Just like lost hill is magic mountain and vice versa.

Well, it was a great event. I managed to knock almost 3.5 seconds a lap off my prvious best lap time there with the only additional mod to my car being a plenum spacer.
The big (or small if you will) news was the lack of Z's at the track! There was myself, and James Chen who brought out the three Z's that Nissan gave to his company (Axis wheels) to play with. Needless to say it was pretty disappointing...

Congratulations on your lap time improvement Speedform. That is all driver skill improvement, because if a spacer plenum gave a guaranteed lap time increase of 3.5 seconds it would be more precious than rhino horn, and just as illegal!

How far is this track from San Diego? I'm going to be out there on business several times over the next few months and may try and stay a weekend to try one of your west coast tracks!

How much track time did you all get?? Last time I was there w/ NASA -- it was pretty limited (only about 4 sessions of 20 minutes each per day). But the price was right.

I am going this weekend with Tracquest (Saturday and Sunday) -- 5 x 30 minute sessions there. But the price is a about double. But I suppose its almost double the track time. I will be the only Z in the a see of Porsches, BMW M-cars, Vipers and a few Spec Miatas.

I plan to come out to some of NASAs other events. I am really interested in perhaps driving in the SE-R cup if I ever decide to get a real race car.

You could probably do it in 3-4 hours. San Diego is 1.5 hours from Long Beach (my local) and Buttonwillow is a little over 2 hours from my house, dong approx. 10 mph over the speed limit.
John, next months event calender includes a NASA weekend at Willowsprings (I'll check the dates) and a Speedtrialusa event at Streets of Willow (I'll check the dates). Both track are approx. 1/2 hour closer to me then Buttonwillow. Give me a shout if you can make it! daveh: you too!!

I'm with yeah on the race car thing skrill. But the Z would have to go to make that happen. Ouch!
As far as track time, your correct on Nasa's 20 minute sessions. You only get 4 of them and there spaced pretty far apart.
I'm doing Speedtrial next month at Streets. For the same money you get 5- 20 minute sessions.

Be careful on the SpeedTrial thing -- I have heard their events are not well organized or controled. I have heard that they degrade into displays of machismo, drifting and other stupid stuff. I also hear they are way over subscribed. I was at Big Willow at an event while ST was having an event on Streets. It looked like ducks in a row the whole time.

I would not waste my money or time (or risk my car) at an ST event. Stick with NASA, Tracquest, TCRA, SpeenVentures, Racer Factory, Porsche club, Audi club, BMW club, etc. They are quality events.

Speedtrial events have gotten a lot better. I know what your talking about as far as the hooliganism that used to go on. Same thing with Speedventures. It's better now. They use NASA instructors to keep things in order a little bit more. Still not as organized as a NASA event but you do get more track time.
