Default DOT R tire choices-which brands do you prefer and why

Gents:
I have been running the Toyo RA-1 on 18" Nismo wheels, and been very pleased with them. However, I might have an opportunity to run the Dunlop Sport Race tires at a good deal. Have any of you experience with this tire, and if so, what are your thoughts of how it stacks up against the other competition choices we have available (Hoosier/Michelin/Pirelli)?

Are you looking for autocross or track use?

I'll have a review of the Pirelli PZero Corsa in about 4 weeks.

I apologize. Road course use, in the dry.

i believe a048's only come in 225, 265, and 285 sizes. mainly porsche 911 race tires.

do you guys run matched, or staggerred? say a 245/245, or 245/275. i'm only pushing 250ish whp, so i dont believe i need anything bigger then 245 rear in r-compound. thinking 245 ra1's all around.

If I can't sell my stock 17" wheels, I'm going to sell the tires and put R-compounds on them - 245/45 front, 255/45 rear - probably whatever I can get the cheapest in those sizes since ANY R-compound will be better in the dry than my 19" KDWs (and a heck of a lot cheaper to replace)

I just burned a set up today at Roebling Road, 255's, happy with the performance, very little over heating with 140 minutes of track time (20 min sessions). May have one more day left in them. Overall good wear & grip

I've been running 275/40-17 Nitto 555R2's all around. They're cheap ($160 each, heat cycled), sticky (at least compared to street tires), don't overheat, and last a long time. I've gotten about 12 20 minute sessions on them and they're just now down to 2/32 tread depth (I even drive them to and from events, a total of about 2000 street miles). I keep thinking I should try something else but its hard to when I've had such good luck with these.

I've got a set of stock 17" rims I want to use for track and autocross events. I'm looking at getting the Toyo RA-1s, what sizes should I use?

my current list of possibilities looks like this:

toyo ra-1
www.toyo.com
235/40-17 front
255/40-17 rear

avon tech r
sizes no good - 225 or 275 width for 17's

kumho v700 (aggressive street looking)
235/40-17 front $161/ea shaved
245/40-17 rear $161/ea

kumho v710 (slick looking)
245/45-17 all around $179/ea

kumho v700 victoracer
245/45-17 $166 shaved
255/40-17 $173 shaved

i'm looking to get a second set of oem 17" rears to run up front, although if i can't find any cheap, i may try and run the ra-1's 235 up front. so far, the v700 victoracer may be the best fit for what i want, but i'm not familiar with their grip level. i'm ideally looking for a 10mm stagger f/r. i think the car pushes a little bit with my 225/245 f/r azenis setup, but not enough to run matched f/r.

at this point, i'd like to try the 10mm stagger and get as much negative camber in the front as possible. what are the limits? w/o going to upper control arms, how much can the factory pieces allow (given stock suspension)?
