Default harness installation question

I recently installed my avalon harness bar and then purchased a schroth 6 point harness, but there is a problem. I bought the harness used and had asked the seller if it would work in conjunction with a harness bar and he said yes. However, I got it in the mail today and it is a bolt in type. Instead of going through the hassle of trying to returning it to him and fight to get my money back (the seller did not respond kindly to my email informing him of the difference) can I just drill and tap the harness bar, then install grade 8 eye bolts for the harness to attach to?

May be a dumb question but is the piece that bolts to the car sewn on? If it isn't just take it off and wrap it around the harness bar and through the tensioner.

thought about that, but had 2 concerns. First is that I don't want to ruin the harness and second I am not sure if it would be long enough.

Don't drill the bar. Just remove the bolt in end from the harness and wrap the harness around the bar a the point where the bolt in end used to be.
