They were showing the two cars in front of BJ penalized. I guess they changed their minds. 2nd & 6th is still pretty good.

SteveZ33- Thanks for the update. While it's not the way any of us like to see victory achieved, it remains the first GA Cup win for a 350Z in '05! I'd also add that the officials saw fit to mention the blatently illegal Porsche motor in the news release. This was NOT a small infraction for "creative engineering"- WHAT was that team thinking!?
Congratulations to Blake Rosser/David Murray and Unitech Racing for an excellent performance and making their contribution to the Z's racing legacy!

If you guys haven't been to Barber, it's a MUST see! What a kewl track. Couldn't believe the Krohn Racing/TRG entry was DQ'd. Their official comment on the situation was that they bought the car from another team and that team had ordered the new engine for it. When it showed up at the TRG shop, they put it in not realizing it was a X-51 engine. If it was prepped by TRG, I find it hard to believe that they didn't know what they were installing. They are a Porsche shop for crying out loud.
Anyway, I got to tell you, I've been around BJ for a couple years now and every race he continues to amaze me. The flags/pit strategy didn't exactly go our way but BJ was able to drive the crap out of the car on crap tires no less, and still challenge up front! Nice job B!

After watching the Speed broadcast of this GA Cup race, I'm disappointed with the suspect racecraft that was graphicly shown during the two hour event. I understand it's "pro" racing, but when is out-and-out blocking condoned? Moving slightly off-line to prevent a pass or slamming the door on someone who is not in position is OK, but I saw several dices where the car in front blocked side-to-side! A few of these type of moves resulted in totaled cars (and we're talking about full-race prepped Mustangs or BMW M3s- $75-125K down the drain)! It's up to the Grand Am officials to act on these rule infractions immediately- before the "show" is irrepareably diluted.
Both the cheating and the shunts really detract from the Grand Am Cup. Maybe it's a fact of life- but would YOU want to write checks that big and put up with that stuff?
BTW- it's now Saturday evening and it looks like the Canadian round of the GA Cup GS series is tomorrow afternoon. The Touring class race was today, so we'll see if this cuts down on the crowded track and crappy passes/blocking. I'd guess that the Unitech Z was given quite a lead trophy from last week's win: they are down in 15th after qualifying and it looks like the Mustangs are starting up front again.
