Default Sways Shopping

Hey Guys,

I'm looking for a set of sway bars for my 350Z to help clear up some understeer. I was wondering what options are out there that you all would recommend. I am looking for something that is adjustable and comes in a front and rear sway set. I found a Hotchkis set for $299, but I'm also looking at Cusco (Mmm JDM).

Appreciate your suggestions.

I've got the front Hotchkis installed and love it. Improved our corner exit problems. Though we can't install the rear bar. Speaking of which, I should probably put that up for sale.

Before the hotchkis bar I had a 350EVO front bar installed.

I went with a set of used Hotchkis F/R sways, and a set of new McMasters collars. About $240 for the entire setup there.

Why couldn't you install the rear bar? Clearance issues?

In autocross, B-Stock, you can only swap the front bar. You can't touch the rear.

How does the Hotchkis bar compare with the 350EVO bar, handling-wise?

I found it to be an improvement over the 350EVO bar for helping to resolve inside tirespin on corner exit, it had noticably more bite.

I ran both bars on full stiff.

I was looking through the rule book and I think my test pipes push me into Street Modified, so I guess it doesn't really matter what I slap on the car anyways.. :P I just wanna have some fun, and dial out some of this understeer. I think ill mess with the pressures and get some practice then slap on the sways.

I got the complete HOTchkis TVS kit at Nopi who's running it on special for $361.60, mine was $385.44 shipped. Kit includes front and rear sways, springs, and urethane sway bushings . I also went ahead and put the mcmaster-carr collars on the sways while I had it all apart.

After I finished installation, I took it out on some of the good twisty backroads near my house...I couldn't make myself stop smiling. I didn't realize how much body lean the z had with the oe suspension till i drove it with the HOTchkis setup. Overall handling is much improved and surprisingly the ride is a bit smoother now from the softer rear spring I guess. I'm very happy with the kit. Btw...I'm running both sways in the middle setting.

I've owned both the hotchkis and 350 evo sways, and I like the evos better. I feel like the front bar is stiffer than the hotchkis sways. It's interesting that christoc found the opposite. He is primarily an autoxer and I am a road racer (I also use both the front and rear which may transfer more or less to the front of the car giving a different feeling between the two companies). The hotchkis are nice and do make the car more balanced. All the race teams use the evos including T2 if that means anything to us wannabee's.

If your looking just for sways...Nopi also has the sways on special too at $248.55.

I haven't tried any other options, but I have the 350EVO front and rear sways set on medium and I love them. I have issues with the quality of Hotchkis stuff from previous experiences with their stuff on my 1970 Chevelle.

Not mine. Front or rear? Is it loose?

That sounds right. I set my collars up right against the bushings.

My evo bar made a lot of noise. Lube it up again and it'll quiet up for a bit, though the grease will work it's way out and make more noise.

At least that's what I noticed.

I have the 350EVO front bar as well, set on full stiff... I put the stock bushings back in, to prevent recurring squeaks.
