Race seat question

Roll cages are usually fabricated by cage builders... your best bet would be to ask around some other road racing forums to find an established builder - word of mouth is the primary form of advertising for this industry. Steel has gone up in price, but labor and materials ran me $900.

Costs can run from $1500 on down to $500 for a six-point cage, depending on what you specify. Since you're new, you should ask yourself if this is the best way to spend your mod budget. There are lots of activities, including Solo II, HPDEs or Time Trial events that don't require a dedicated cage. Plus, the more you're around the motorsports scene, the more you'll learn and when the time comes to put in a cage (or rollbar, or whatever), you'll have a much clearer idea of what you want and need.

custom is def. the way to go. Mine cost about 650 and the fit an quality is terrific. This was the only way for me to go being that the kirk racing took up too much interior space for my stretch armstrong self to fit. Most estimates you might get will be higher then mine,(800-1000) the main reason i got it for 650 is because that was his original quote and this was the first Z he's done. ( he had to basically build the whole cage in car but again it paid off) He even re-fabed the mainhoop because his first mockup had a 1in gap on each side and he wanted the hoop touching the headliner. Although I would advise to use someone that builds cages for deticated race cars. The fabricator took my tank out and anything else so that he could evaluate the strongest mounting points in the chassis. Now i did lose use of my glove box but he'll do whatever specs you want him to, Street, show, or race, it's all flawless. It made me feel much better about the process when I saw some before and after pics of a cage he built, lasting through a 12 barrel roll fest and other then the driver being alittle delerious, no broken bones or head tramma!!
