Default need help on springs.

well, some of you may know i'm planning to run a bsp 350z. does anybody have a good recommendation for springs to run?

as far as suspension, i'm going to run 350evo front and rear sways, cusco camber arms, and koni SA's. i was thinking about the t2 spring since i'll be tracking the car a lot, but i figured that would be too stiff. i'm trying to find a compromise here, and i have no experience whatsoever with the different spring brands out there. any recommendations? custom spring rates?

Default I have this setup

I have the complete 350EVO setup with T2 springs. This is an awsome track setup. what an improvement over the stock spring rates. The stifffer springs in combination with Koni SA shocks is fine around town and on the freeway. I would reccomend the t2's for a serious track car. Have fun

I thought in BSP you could only change your shocks/struts...not springs?

BS you can only change shocks/struts. In BSP you can pretty much use what ever shock spring package you want.

the thing about the t2 springs is i think it would be TOO stiff for an auto-x, even with less dampening. seems like the car would hop and i don't want that to happen.

i'm not really concerned with a drop, eibachs and their ~175 spring rates are out of the question. anybody know the specs on the h&rs and if they offer a race spring? the teins s-techs or the RSR springs seem to offer stiff spring rates.

I am debating getting springs too however I think the stock springs (2004.5 and up) have better spring rates than most of the aftermarket springs. If I do get springs it would be the rsr springs but the rates seem similar to stock so I don't know if it is worth it.

2004.5 OEM
front 310 or 314 lb/in depending on source
rear 427 lb/in

RSR
front 345 lb/in
rear 417 lb/in

edit: Where did you buy or going to buy your konis because I plan on buying them real soon?

I can def steer you away from Tein springs, since the rates are way too soft in the rear...

I tried Eibach springs for a while. The progressive nature was great for the street, lousy for the track.

At first I was going to get the T2 springs, but Tokico informed me that the spring rae was too high for their D-Spec shocks. I was going to order the RSR's, since a buddy of mine has them and he likes them. But in the end, I went with Espelir Active GT springs (they have a higher spring rate than the RS*Rs - 381 Fr/459 Rr). So far, they have been great on the street - for me, they feel better than the Eibachs. No chance to auto-x or track with them yet, but I am going to the Redline Time Attack this weekend at Spring Mountain Ranch (Pahrump, NV) and I'll give a full report after that (I'm taking my D2 coilovers there too in case the Espelirs aren't stiff enough).

Might see you there -- like those stoptechs?

Love my RS*R's, but probably going with coilovers next year.

Hey, come on out! The more Z's the better. Are you going to race or spectate? If you are racing, you'll smoke me with that turbo thang.... but then, you'll be in a different class.

Yes, I am very happy with the Stop Techs. I got them because the stock brakes faded away in six laps at Firebird. After having driven REAL race cars, no street car has ever had enough brakes for me.

What are the spring rates on those? IIRC, they're linear right?

What springs are you using with your Tokico shocks?

Coilovers are fine for BSP. I ran all last year in BSP with Tien Flex Coilovers. I also ran one event with JIC FLTA-2 Coilovers and I liked those a lot better.

If you re-read my post, you'll see that I am running Espelir Active GT springs. This has been the best combo so far overall that I have tried for the Z.

However, I have just purchased a set of Tom Motorsport coilover springs (these are just springs, but they have adjustable purches). On paper, these look good. They have a spring rate of about 500 lbs/in both front and rear, so they are stiffer even than the Espelirs. Can't wait to try them out.

i'm still having trouble finding a linear spring that isn't too stiff.
