I've thought about doing that, but I want to see if the oil consumption continues over the next couple thousand miles. I'm going for an oil change next week.

I'm definitely a newb to tracking or even autocross. I'm finally getting chance to try it out with my G with 6MT.
If you are new to tracking, the 13" kit will likely suffice for a quite a while. I have never needed more than stock brakes for auto-x (the courses are not long enough and the speeds are not high enough to be any problem for stock Z brakes).

As J Ritt notes, once in a great while, you might fade the 13's if you are really running hard on the track, but its rare. I would say that I know how to use brakes to pretty close to their maximum potential, and I have only once had any issues with the 13" Stop Techs. I backed off for a lap and they came back. My problem is with the rears, which is why I am starting to look for some upgraded rear brakes. (I routinely have to bleed the rear brakes from boiled fluid - the fronts don't have this problem).

J Ritt, I have asked this before, but when are you guys going to have a rear 13" kit priced like your 13" front kit? Your pricing is steering me to AP Racing... and I would rather have Stop Tech.

Go with Brembo 14 inch BBK. They are little more expensive than Stoptech but it'll be worth it. Go with Brembo, you can't go wrong (most car manufactures use Brembo).

Damn...you mean I bought the wrong brand of brakes?

For quick sale: My 355mm Stoptech front brakes for cheap. Only 20,000 miles on them. Any reasonable offers above $2600 and they're yours. Buyer to pay for shipping + $150 handling fee (I don't get up out of bed for nothing...)

BTW, John, are you J8 on rennlist?

Oh, yes...J3

I haven't posted much there, but I read almost everything in the DE/racing section. The folks who post and follow the DE/racing section seem to be a pretty good group, very much like the my350z folks who spend their time in the autox/DE/racing section. I've met some of the rennlisters at our local track events.

Hi Guys,
Happy holidays!

As for the rear upgrades...we're still working on bringing the price down on the rear kit. As of now, I cannot say that will necessarily happen though. Our ST-22 is unfortunately very expensive to manufacture as it stands. Of course, you guys will be the first to hear about it if/when it does happen! I'll be sure to keep you updated.

Also, we may be releasing a new product for the Z in the very near future. That's all I'm going to say at this point.

I'm glad you're enjoying your brakes, even if they're not used by most OEM's!

Thanks for the heads up Jeff. I've been calling vendors every 6 months to get pricing on the ST-22 kit, but it never comes down. I'm starting to look into having someone machine brackets for other caliper options. But, I'd much prefer the stoptech kit since the front kit is simply awesome. But like many folks on this board, I'm having a very hard time spending that much dough on a rear set when all we need is something a 'little' better than the oem non-brembo rears.

At this point, I'm resorting to just frying my rear brakes system as if they are just disposable resources.

A new product for the Z? Wow...I never thought Stoptech needed another product for the Z, but I anxiously await. I'm guessing it's going to be a bling product in the order of 6 pot calipers? Or...smaller calipers so that the 355mm would fit inside 17" rims? Or...a brake duct kit? That's all I'll guess at this point.

Thanks for the props. I hear you on the inexpensive rear upgrade. There are just so many things to consider when putting something together to integrate seamlessly though. Hmmmmmm...let me brainstorm on that topic and see what I/we can come up with.

I hear you on the rears as disposable...I run through rear pads like water!

As for the new product...your guesses are quite reasonable.

We've actually already done a performance e-brake for the JIC 350Z. It uses a steel hat...which is uber-expensive to produce...we're talking thousands, and that's just for the hats!!!

The problem isn't the rotor fitting inside the wheel, the problem is the caliper. I have 355mm (another brand, but similar to Stoptech's) and they would not fit inside a 17" wheel, and I tried three different ones!

I have not tried any other brands, so I can't speek from first hand.
I have heard great things about Stoptech. I have Rotora and I am VERY happy with them. At my last track day, my instructor owned a very large shop, he said they he was very impressed with my brakes and said that other BBK had a lot of problems at track events (he mentioned about every brand except Stoptech and Rotora). In fact I have heard that Brembos don't improve your braking zone, but no problems over stock.
Do you need 14" vs 13", most likely no. If you are like me and don't like to change brake pads all the time, than a larger diameter will give you longer pad life. And your braking zone is determined by many different factors (brakes, tires, weight of your vehicle, ...) But, if you do go larger, you will increase your unsprung weight, so there is a trade off.
I have 18" w/ a 33 offset. But it matters more about the wheel width and the design of wheel if it work with the brake kit. So, make sure you get drawings of the brake kit and you will need to contact your wheel manufacture to see if the brakes will work with them.
Hop that helps.
