Default Shoes, shoes, shoes not just for girls

What brand and type of shoes does everyone where. I have looked around and it appears you can buy racing shoes for 100-200 dollars. I don't know much about the autocross/track scene, and would hate to show up at the track with the uncoolest shoes on the market. Clearly I want them for functionallity, but a good price and cool shoe will not hurt their ability to aid in driving and safety.

wait for the new cole haan collection sneaker not fireproof or anything and it cost 195 dollars a set but they are made from calf skin, and leather lined inside for a luxurious feel...
also available in ostridge skin for about 50% more money
and we all know exotic leathers last FOREVER
just my 2 cents cuz i just pre-ordered mine...

I wear Cole Haans almost everyday to work. Thanks for the advice. Think I may go in a different direction this time. Any others?

Check this out:

I wear OMP shoes. Have 2 pairs, one for karting (sans NOMEX) and one for road racing (with NOMEX).

The thing I used to look for in an auto-x shoe is something that is not only a good driving shoe but also a good walking shoe since half the time you're walking. The piloti is really good for auto-x for this reason.

The piloti is a good auto-x shoe.

I wear shift kart hi top now because I like the extra ankle support in the kart.

I went to their VIR track event last weekend, but probably will not drive the two hours to their monthly meetings. (Plus I'm a NC State fan and the name really gets to me )

Sparco/Pumas is what I go by. I have a total of 4 pairs:
1 for casual driving (Puma Replica speed cats, low top)
1 for karting (Sparco Kart with CF outsole)
2 for track use (Sparco Speed Cats, high top, two different colors for two different race suits [race team and personal])

You can get the replica Speed Cat Pumas.. they are not fire-resistant, but at least you can look like a casual race car driver:

www.eastbay.com ~$70 to $100

many colors and styles available

If you want the real thing and considering to race or run on the track with a track car, get them from www.ogracing.com (about $150 to $300):

while you're at it, get a race suit too by Sparco.. (on sale for $400, it was $650) this is the one I have:

+1 on the Puma Speedcats..

they do run smaller than normal, so if you got wide feet, try to get 1/2 size larger.

I have 3 pairs of piloti shoes. Love every single pair. The puma's are killer on your feet if you wear them all day and walk around in them. If you auto-x with the Pumas I would recommend bringing along another pair of walking shoes. But the Pilotis get my vote.

For autocross I bought a 40 dollar pair of wrestling shoes.

For club racing, which I'm starting this year, I'm looking into shoe options, probably will get some Oakleys

Thanks for the links to more Puma cat shoes! I love my racing cats but I need an extra pair as I wear them when I'm not racing. Excellent for the tracks though.

i think your cole haan regular $145 city loafers or nike air bottom shoes are no where close to the product im pitching...
check out cole haan collection at colehaan.com
these are $350 dollars shoes and they are coming out with a sneaker thats $195 calf skin and about $350 with ostridge skin...
if you have tried on the Air Estadios line you should know that they are comfortable for everyday casual use AND great for driving (thin but supportive sole, soft calf suede, and light weight with nike bottom)
the collection sneaker is going to be MUCH MUCH better than the estadio line
I personally own many pairs of cole haan collection dress shoes and i've know the Cole Haan regional distributor for 2 years lol...
