Does anyone know of a open track day for Laguna Seca between now and mid June? (I'm moving to Seattle soon for a new job and want to drive Laguna Seca before I leave...)

You're pretty much out of luck. Laguna is for the pros in the summer. They're also making the renovations for MotoGP (if you can make it to that, it's a great event to see live). I know that trackmasters is going there in September.

Here is the track schedule. Look for Monterey County entries, those are "track event" days that are rented by clubs, like Doug Gale's Trackmasters-Racing. He has an event on Sat/Sun Sept 16-17. If you find others you can call the track and see who it is and sometimes, if it is a club like Porsche etc they have openings for non club members, as it helps defray the cost of the track rental. Worth a shot at least. The track is a "must do".

I got this email from Hooked on Driving. Laguna Seca this Thursday.

We invited race-prepped cars and they have not responded...Their loss
is your gain! This opens up the opportunity for B, C, and D drivers to
join the MarqueMadness “Hot and Loud� (unrestricted sound) laps at
Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca THIS Thursday (May 4th)!! This is a TRACK
TIME EMERGENCY. The day is an official part of the MarqueMadness sports
car festival, with the on-track activities managed by HOD. This is not
a school, but a track day with mandatory wave-by passing and some
no-passing zones. Sorry, no A group novices as there will not be an
coaching staff. Lead and follow will be available however. We have two forty
minute on track sessions. 9:10am to 9:50am and 4:15pm to 4:55pm.
What’s VERY cool is that the GrandAm Cup, Rolex Daytona Prototypes and
Historic NASCAR are the other groups on track during the day…the
spectating will be awesome during your break from driving!! Just go to

download a PDF form and fax it in. The net cost for the Hot and Loud laps,
including a race ticket for the weekend that includes a Saturday night
BBQ and reserved corral parking is $295 (thanks to Shell V-Power for
