Default B Stock 17" Wheel Replacement

If you're running in SCCA B Stock and have replaced your 17" wheels, what wheels did you choose? Or what wheels would you choose if you did replace them?

Great. I have done research into these wheels, but was confused about the front pair. This must be where the spacer comes into play. If I have this right, the proper specs for these wheels would be ...

17x7.5, offset +48, 5x114.3
17x8.0, offset +35, 5x114.3

Specs taken from http://www.enkei.com/RacingSeriesSpecs/RPF1.html

What size is the spacer on the front? Stock is +30, so if I understand offset correctly, that would be 48-30=18 -> and 18 millimeters is equal to 0.71 inches, so I would need a .75 inch spacer? Forgive me if I've butchered this. I'm not exactly a wheel and tire guru.

I'm going to put Falken Azenis RT-615 on these wheels. I was thinking 255's all around. However, this is outside what Falken reccomends.

Widest tire they recommend for 7.5" wheel is 245/45R17
Widest tire they recommend for 8" wheel is also 245/45R17

Falken size & spec chart: http://www.falkentire.com/rt615_sizes.html

I sincerely appreciate the insight.

You can deviate 5mm from stock offset OR however much spacer you need to bring your aftermarket wheel into stock specifications.

I run stock wheels so I'm not 100% sure on this rule.

the hotset up is 275s.. even on the 7.5" wheel. I personally run a 245, but will probably try a 275 with my next set of tires.

is this going to be your street tire, also? If so, I'd stick to 255s. You'll be fine.

if you can, run 255/40R17 all around

they reccomend 8.5-10, but honestly that seems a bit much for a 255 tire

IMO, if you're getting race wheels and tires, don't bother with the Falkens, you may as well go for Rcompounds.

Yes, these will be my street tires/wheels. Perhaps at some point in the future I will maintain 2 sets of tires and wheels, but not quite yet.

Could you guys confirm my question about offset?

What size is the spacer on the front? Stock offset is +30, so if I understand offset correctly, that would be 48-30=18 -> and 18 millimeters is equal to 0.71 inches, so I would need a .75 inch spacer? Forgive me if I've butchered this. I'm not exactly a wheel and tire guru.

Also, do you agree that 255 Falkens SHOULD fit 7.5 and 8.0 inch wheels?

The falkens should fit, my 275 kumhos go onto 7.5, but I can't guarantee as I've never tried the 255 falkens. Though I run 245 falkens on my car for street tires.

Just watch out once you mount different size tires than stock, the traction control will be all jacked up, especially on on/off ramps.

I just put 275/40/17 Falken 615's all the way around on the stock 17's. Looks great and aggressive if you ask me. Side wall bulge does not look too bad either. I will post up some pics when it stops raining out here.

Default 275/40 17 B Stock

Are you restricted to 7.5"front and 8" wide rims or can you run with wider rims?
What would be the best rim width to run with 275/40 17? Would you stagger them front and back? ie 8.5" front with 245/45 Kumho R compounds and 9.5" or 10" rears with 275/40s ... or run same on all four wheels?

In B Stock you must use a wheel that is virtually identical in dimensions to the stock wheel. They allow you a tiny bit of leeway in offset, but that's it.

For stock class, you have to have the same diameter, same width, and +/- 5mm offset I believe. It may be 10mm, I'm not certain, someone please clarify.

it's 5mm, or about 1/4".

no updates backdates are allowed, but complete trim level changes are allowed.

The rules allow a total of 1/4" or 6.35mm +/- off of OE offset. You can get this with spacers, different offset wheels or both.
