Default Any ball joint failures from brake heat ?

Has anyone had problems with their ball joints due to excessive brake heat from tracking ?

I have removed the dust shields on my 03 with standard brakes to help with cooling, but I'm now afraid of the heat getting into the ball joints and cooking the grease leading to failure. These BJ are sealed so there is no nipple to add grease. Two things happened recently that made me have doubts:

1- I recently purchased a used Jeep Liberty and got familiar with a lower ball joint recall on all 2002-2003 models.
The Jeep boards had plenty of information. The recall consists of changing the LBJ but also to ADD a small heat shield to protect the BJ from the brake heat.

2- while at a PCA DE yesterday, an instructor with an NSX was talking about his brake dust shield. The US version NSX covers the entire rotor surface while the European version is cut like swiss cheese for better cooling but still shields the ball joints. He made holes on his US shields but did not remove them completely.

Anyone with a BBK most likely has the shields removed also.

Never had a problem after nearly 4 years of tracking the car.

If you're concerned, you can wrap the ball joint with fiberglass/aluminum heat shield cloth and use stainless steel wire ties to keep it in place. We did that on a GTS-R Viper when it was raced in the Rolex 24, but I don't think a typical HPDE 20 minute session will generate enough heat to worry about the ball joint.

Thanks for the responses, It does not seems like it has been a problem.
Then again, I would not have though that a Jeep would need a heatshield for it's LBJs either...
