See you at the track.
See you at the track. Not trying to be the aero experts. We are experimenting here with Ed. He had some ideas what he wanted and was VERY VERY concerned about durability if he goes off track as he did twice yesterday. We built this piece to last if he goes off, and the part can easily be removed at anytime.
I originally suggested working with Digi at Cwest or Peter at APR for the front splitter, but Ed didn't want a carbon piece that could break after offing ONETIME as what happened with MBs car at BW in October.
AS for working with you, I discussed this with you and you said you wouldn't and couldn't be ready to build the part for months until you move your current working location.
NOTE:
Would love to see your products, however, The only work I have seen finished from you was on MBs car at the Redline at Calspeedway.
You seem to know your stuff but we have cars in need of parts weekly, can't just talk about making products...when I have to deliver them to my clients. Sure you can understand..Not to be negative, I am still waiting for the front end and hood promised 9 months ago after letting you borrow my cars multiple times for fitment.
ANY PROGRESS YET...
Hope you are well...And looking forward to the hood and front-end.
Warmly
M

Mike has film of my "off" excitement, going CW through Sunset both times. They were not too exciting, just dropped the right side wheels into the dirt off the pavement on track out, and eased back on and kept going. A little of the typical "wiggle waggle" as we straightened her out, nursed it back on, and with some counter steer and throttle control had her sit back down and away we went. Left a pretty good cloud of dust though! The aluminum sheet took the abrasion fine and we were good. The dirt surface is pretty level there, but there is an "edge" to the asphalt that is about 1.5 to 2 inches, just enough to give some tearing force to any bodywork that gets in the way, like sliding down a rasp. No problem. At least not this time.
Mike built what I wanted. We may want to trim back a part of the leading edge just a touch, make a few other adjustments to it. It is not perfect by any means. But it is working. When something comes along better, I will be seriously looking to get it. (Just look at the car if you doubt that!)
Still not getting enough downforce in front. Understeer issues now with the relatively greater increase in downforce to the rear. The wing is just kicking butt though, very noticeable improved adhesion in Riverside and over Lost Hill, and through Sunrise at the end of the front straight. Not sure about Bus Stop....my cheeks are clenched so tight going through there I am not thinking a whole lot about what the wing is doing! I will have to watch the video to find out.
One thing is certain......NT01 rubber is an awesome step up over street rubber. New set of each on identical Enkei NT03+M rims. Same aero sets. 7 seconds lap time margin, and at least two more secs in the Nittos easy. The street rubber was yowling like a tortured beast in the corners, as Mike can attest as a passenger. Then when we got the tires swapped and put on the Nittos, he was in the chase car, a 350Z with JWT 530BB TT on Hoosiers....but with 100rwhp advantage the G just pulled away. And Mike is a better driver than me most days of the week.

Not to split hairs here Mike, but you were supposed to show up THREE TIMES at my shop in the past including recently about the splitters. You don't show up, and i schedule my work day to be here when i have people saying they will show up. And i think you confused MB's car with Mott's car last Dec at B.W. , not Oct. when the splitter came off. He put it back on and ran it the rest of the weekend. And that was a prototype Mike.
We are developing race parts here Mike. Not street parts for your customers.
And as far as letting us use two of your cars, you took them back the next day Mike. That doesn't work in the world of mold making. Nothing was accomplished but i appreciate the effort. We have had to get cars on our own to test fit molds etc. When you asked for carbon doors, you wouldn't even provide oem doors for a mold, saying that they are expensive. Well Mike, carbon doors are also expensive. But i guess you don't see it that way.
