finally went to see Benchmark on Friday.
the originals i gave them to make the mold are now the plug, they did some minor fixes that i want and should have a test sample after thanksgiving.

they will have some pretty good flexability in it as to fit various curved hoods, the foot print for the vents themselves will be relatively easy to place (i think) pretty much anywhere near the front to middle of the Z hood..

i've added the gurney flap (about half inch) to the front as to lift the airflow up and over the vents to allow for air to get sucked out at speed. the vents are 'sunk' in to the hood and the only thin you'd see above the hood line would be the gurney lip in the front, and the mounting flange which would be very thin, 1/8 to 1/4" inch thick ( you gotta mount the thing some how...)

now for materials for final product, i can do a carbon, that is NOT clear (aka dry-type) but i'll probably leave it up to the end user to decide to clear it or not, they said they won't do clear gel type vents due to the arduous task of getting it to come out w/o airholes in the weave. would be lighter than FRP, but... somepeople might not like it as much.. i'm making these to be more functional than pretty, so people might want to paint these to match the factory hood, or i can have them all spray'd black ...

i'm going to be cuttin my stock hood for prototyping and be runnin' some temp comparisons with my FI z as well as my friend that drifts (he's NA) to do comparisons..

what would everone like as finished options? post up. i'll see what i can do-

thanks

Cheston

Thanks for the update Cheston. This is the only reason why I haven't painted my car yet. Debating on a hood. and my opinion, I would like mine to be in black.

Sounds good Man.
I personally would like to see them finished in black.
I think it would look good and contrast well with the rest of the look.

You can clear it yourself. I am going to drop these in and re-clear my already clear CF hood with a matte clear.
