Look at the fastest lap from the Sols compared to everyone else! Rob nice job recovering from the JA incident. You set the fastest non Solstice lap. Actually take away the Solstices and it was a competitive race. FI will kill T2.....

Just got back from Topeka. The damn Solstices looked like they were on a Sunday drive compared to the rest of the field. I heard that one of the Solstice drivers got his car on Wednesday. WTF?? Some very talented drivers in the 350Zs out there. Tough break for, I think it was, Jim Goughary in the 350Z in GT class. On the lap prior to the failure, he gained almost 2 seconds on the lead Porsche. Congrats guys. I'd like to see the fi cars out of T2 and let the real fun begin. I'll dig through my pics tonight and post a few here.

ZIllinois - thanks for posting the video. Do you have anymore? About 2 or 3 laps into the race I lost my ABS and flat spotted my tires. A couple of my friends were watching from where you took the video and said they saw a lot of smoke coming off my tires.

Anyway, GXPs were really overlooked by the SCCA Comp Board this year. If you took them out, I think the T2 field would have been a lot closer and the Zs, obviously, much more competitive.

I didn’t do a lot of testing, but qualifying was going well for me until the last day. I was 4th overall and decided to change EVERYTHING that is possible in the rear of the car to try and get more grip. However, I f'd up BIG time and went 3 seconds a lap slower and dropping 4 positions. My good friend Rob Hines tried to tell me not to do the change, but I knew there was more time and I just got way to excited. Rookie mistake...lesson learned. You should always listen to your elders, right Rob .
The race started well...Ken got a much better start then I and was around me in turn1. Rob and Ken were working well together early on and I was one car behind so I was thinking...this could be really good for all of us. Then I lost ABS and Rob was punted....the rest is history. I'll try to post some video if you guys want to see it.

We’ll be further developing the Zs this winter, reload and go after it again next year. Hope to see more T2 Zs built and if I can help in anyway, please feel free to drop me a PM or email.

Special thanks to:
Hoosier tires - yes, I ran on As for qualifying and the race and they are just AWESOME!
JRZ - the biggest single change from last year…proof is in the results…3-out-of-4 National wins!
Forgeline Wheels - you want to turn heads or win races? Do both!
Trailex – the lightest aluminum trailers on the market
DriversRoad.com – kickass automotive artwork
Nissan Motorsports – one of the best grassroots racing support programs out there…period.

Drive on,
Jason

Thumbs down

Yes, we too were on Hoosier A's... I think all the Hoosier guys have switched to A's by now. We had 4th but broke an intake cam 5 laps from the end, luckily Ken was able to finish in 5th but it required backing off a little since the car was definitely not happy... Yes, the car was smoking at the end. The diff did not start sounding bad until we headed to the tech shed after the race.
GM definitely "bought" themselves a championship... even though we were the highest placing non-Pontiac, it was a frustrating week and we don't plan on going back.

The Sol is about 100 or more horsepower away from the 400 horses you guys are all claiming. The KO3S that is on there isn't capable of producing more than 320 crank horse if you welded the waste gate shut.

The Solstices are used competitively BECASUE of the chassis, and its handling capabilities. Look at where the Sols front wheel is placed. The ENTIRE motor is behind it, what do you expect!?

BTW: The cars run 20 psi stock

The EVOs pulled much harder on the straights than the SOLs. You guys see 26 PSI, and are like OMG, GM has its TOP engineers fiddling with this thing to make it WAY unfair. You guys are crying about 2.0L of literally HOT HOT air with an incapable intercooler. They are all riding on Sticky Tar tires. Its a Fair fair race.

That is so good to see that the Solstice GXP over exceeds the 350z. I am glad I that I got the GXP after my 350z accident in July 19.

You are correct in the chassie is better for racing than the Z, it's lighter, shorter wheel base would make for a better handling car. And from what I read it really does drive quite well.

Not to mention less stress on the chassie and brake system since the car has a much lower mass.

I also believe that the Sol probably has a good 1-1.5lbs per horse power advantage over the Z.

So fair, I think not. But it's not so much the Sol as it is the politics within SCCA that causes this.

But thanks for your thoughts.....

From my calculations

GXP: 3000lbs/260hp = 11.5 lbs per hp
350Z: 3339 lbs/300hp = 11.1 lbs per hp

Ummm...350Z has the better advantage. Sorry!!

No, what makes it a chick car is it's looks and it's dainty.
You can't tell me it's not, sorry.

There should be no reason FI should be eliminated. If your car walked on all of the cars you wouldn't feel this way. I guess it's time for Nissan to step it up. Put the cars on a diet, make a better suspension, etc.

Oh and the comment about the cars being dainty. The solstice really isn't as small as it looks.

you REALLY don't want to go THERE, do you?

man, i was gonna stay out of this thread becuase even though I own a gxp I happen to agree with you guys, I think they need to add weight to the gxp for next season or come up with some other compensatin

but a comment like that one is really bizzare

you drive a rice burner, of all the 350z's I see almost all are driven by women or little boys

though I know there are women owners of the gxp I have never seen one.

a 350z owner calling the solstice a chick car is hysterical

pot, meet kettle

I'm not a member here and I enjoyed the thread, I said so on my forum where I said I agreed with you guys

but the flame bait from someone in a rice burner really got to me

I hope this thread gets back to the technical and philisophical discussion becuase it is a pretty good thread

let me make my opoligies here

I don't mean to come on your board and trash your car or the image of it but I'm just responding to a post that made no sense as far as the image of these perspective automobiles

not to worry about the solstice, the skyline is gonna kick EVERYONE'S butt

Yeah, I noticed the Solstice lurkers must be bored in their forum so they decided to infest our forum. For a freakin' car that has no legacy and will be history in a few years, why would anyone be so **** about this POS underpowered 4-banger Pontiac!?

A POS underpowered 4 banger that kicked the 350z's *** and broke all the T2 SCCA records. Wait for next year the NISMO edition 350Z will be at the runoffs and the GXP will have some kind of restriction on it like the Elise.

Don't put too much stock in a first year car, the 2nd year results will be most telling.
