Default Help picking rotors for 06

So far I have Adressed handling, and I am trying to handle braking now I dont have enough money for the BBK though, I have lightend my car quite a bit, Coilover, Sound detoning, Invidia N1, Test pipes, Wheels, and a seat, and battery. I have an 06 and the brakes are good but cant handle full track sessions. My plan is to ditch the dust sheilds, build a brake duct kit, lines and fluid, and of course... rotors and Pads, money is a huge factor, i need the best for the least $. Which rotors and pads would you recomend, Squealing is ok, and i will be swapping pads before the track i think. thanks

I have an 06 as well and dealt with the brake situation.

Brake lines and proper brake fluid are the first things you should get. StopTech sells the lines as do others. You have several choices for pads. Portefiled R4, Raybestos ST41/43, PF01/97, and more.
The brakes on the 06 are pretty darn good with lines and pads. Removing the dust shield will give you greater cooling, same thing with ducts.

I have a BBK now but running with stock brakes with lines/race fluid/race pads, it was no problem with street tires. I'll be running R-Comps now and I suspect the stock brake system would have trouble dealing with the extra stopping power necesarry for sticky rubber.

And I forgot to answer you rotor question...

Are the stock ones toast? If they're still in good shape, use those. StopTech also sells replacement rotors. Don't get drilled rotors since they crack more than solid or slotted rotors.

The cheapest ones you can find.

If you can, swap out the rotors when you change to your track pads, and mark which pad and rotor goes where. That way you only have to bed them in once and you always have a spare set to bring to the track. Plus they will last you a little bit longer. (I only swap out the fronts, I'm not a fan of removing the rear rotors.)

Oh, I use the Centric blanks, which are the Stoptech ones. You can find them cheaper than buying direct from Stoptech.

Since your on the East Coast give these guys a try:

Another vote for centric rotors. I buy them from Carbotech when I buy my pads.

Just picked up regular Centric rotors to run with Carbotech pads. Doing an event at VIR next month, we'll see how they compare to stock pads/rotors at SP Main last month.
