you guys think it would be possible to extend that to bolt to the diff. so that the diff bolts would take more of the load? I could see the bumper support sagging in the future.

Do you guys think it's possible/safe to tow a 498lb motorcycle with the proper trailer?

I do not see why not.. I guess it all depends on what exhaust you are running. Mine is a twin can design so it would be pretty easy. But when I had the stock muffler I can't see that working.

As long as the trailer is pretty light and you load it evenly front to back... Even the owners manual says not to pull more than 1000 lbs. and the hitches are only rated for 1000 pull and 100 tongue weight.

I have a problem with that one because if someone hits you in the rear, it is going to do some serious damage to your rear diff as well.

???

Without the bar going towards the axle, all it will do is damage the bumper itself and not the rear diff, frame, mounts, suspension, etc.

A small hit will cause damage to all that with the hitch you found.

Maybe but if you get hit in the rear its mostlikely going to bend the bumper and unibody. which could be just as expensive to fix.

I had the Roark style hitch on my 03 and was rear-ended. That only sheared the horizontal hitch mount off the vertical piece and did not damage the bumper. Of course when the trailer hit the bumper and rear quarter there was damage but not to any structural components.

The Curt looks much strong and will probably bend the bumper supports if hit but I don't think it will get into the unibody. Please do not flame for this opinion.

Curt does not show the hitch for an 07-08 but it the same as the 06'. http://www.curtmfg.com/index.cfm?event=hitch I took the part number and looked around for it at different stores and got the best deal on the 06 hitch at Summint Racing. http://store.summitracing.com/partde...5&autoview=sku You have to look by part # on the summit site but it will come up as a hitch. Not specific to any car. I got it really quickly from them and it was delivered right to my office...

I can not speak about the previous years hitches since my car is an 07'...

Try here, this is where I had been buying most towing stuff. The prices are decent, and service has been very good...

The guy that did the welding/fab on the bumper brace is: http://www.trickfab.com/customjobs.html

It is just one guy, that will do little jobs like mine or real big jobs. I have used him for a few small jobs as I don't have a welder or Fab shop...John is a nice guy and former roundy-round racer....

And, If I understand your question, I don't have "bumper shocks" on the rear bumper of my 2006....the aluminum bumper mounts directly to the rear body panel...

the impact shocks the little boxes that support the rear bumper your bolting the hitch to. Thoes little black box looking things are actually crumple zones and are ment to compress during a accident.

My Curt hitch just came with the Hitch, some mounting screws, and a draw bar

You will still need to purchase a ball and "self-power" wiring harness.....and bumper bracing if you wanna do that

Wow, mine came with everything - minus the wiring and "homemade" bracing. It came with the hitch, bolt hardware, draw bar and the ball already screwed on.. Its not a special kit that summit sells. They are a distributor for Curt and I called to place the order so they then just simply called curt while i was on the phone and ordered it from them and had it sent right to my office with no shipping fees. So I couldn't pass up the deal..
