tire sizes for dd/ track
Im looking for a tire size and type to be used as a dd and track tire. I want 5-10k out of a set of tires. The wheel size will be 18x9.5 all around what would be optimimal sizes. Im not wanting to roll or cut my fenders. Thanks. Im looking at falken rt615s nitto invos and kuhmo ecsta mxs, bridgestone re01rs and Im open to others. Thank you

I just got the same size wheels for track use and I'll be using 275/35/18 all around. 265's will work too. You can go with a narrower tire up front if you want as well. The advantage of going with a square setup is that you can rotate your wheels front to back and vice-versa.
RT615s are your best bet.

RT615s would be good for both applications, but you won't get 10k out of them - 5k should be fine though. At least they are a cheap tire to replace. I'd go 275 all around and screw the VDC, but that's just me. I think the largest 18 in the RE-01R is 265. Those would be fine, but not ideal, on the 9.5" wheel. Certainly within the recommended wheel width though.
Have you looked into the Nitto NT01s? They are available in 275/35 or 275/40/18, and are a great tire.

The Nitto NT-01 will work, but you will have two considerations.
1. The tire is a "no no" in the rain and wet. The wide tread blocks and short /stiff side wall with strong modular response make for awesome dry weather performance, but you will be skating on wet stuff. If you want better all around weather high performance in a DOT-R their sister company Toyo makes the RA-1 and 888. So, since you specify Daily Driver utility, you should think about the wet. I was doing 95+ up a short straight at Thunderhill and pulled a snap 180 with the Nittos on in the wet....and I went straight back to the trailer and swapped out wheels and tires, so this is not casual advice.
2. Mileage is not likely to be 10,000. The compound is rated 100 but we all know that these ratings are somewhat "flexible". I think that you should really think of it more comparable to somewhere around 75, or quite a bit softer. If you do track days, think of getting five or six good days out of them track only. If you do road work and 5,000 miles, maybe two or three good track days in that mix. And road only perhaps 7,500 miles or so.
Great tire though. I really like them.

i run 275/40 all around on 17x9 +24 wheels. i love it, the handling is much more neutral. staggered setup looks cool but not ideal for handling potential. +1 ^^.....kumho ecstas are the crappiiest of what your looking at. i run sumitomo htr z3 tires, so far so good. the nt01's would be sick for track days. especially since you dont care if they last that long. VDC ftl...base model with nismo lsd ftw. lol.
oh yeah, Sport compact car runs their project Z with 18x9.5 275/40 bridgestone g-force kd. also a great tire.

My car is now a deticated tack car so it is no longer an issue. It only lasted two years and I broke three teeth with bottom outs is all we can guess. The shock sheared off the pinion gear teeth,
