Question StopTech Road Racers!!!

I have the ST-40 & ST-22 front/rear ST BBK w/ Zinc coated slotted rotors. I plan on attending some track days when I return from Kuwait. Was wondering what brake pads have worked well for you on the track? Some things to consider; I have the JWT TT kit, 19" Work Meister wheel w/ Advan Sport tires, and a small audio system. I have attended track days in the past however, this will be my first with the turbo kit and BBK. Thanks!

Thanks. I've read and I'm looking for more personal feedback.

that entire thread is nothing but personal feedback. not sure how much more personal you can get. it is virtually all track related feedback on about every pad ever produced for moderate/extreme use. all written by forum members who TRACK their car. but either way, good luck with your search i guess .

i can comment on the ferodo ds2500 pads for the ST-40.

great pads. great intial bite and follow through. heats up nicely and doesn;t take too long. after a few laps, it'll stop your car on a dime.

i enjoyed them and was more confident going into turns than the Ultimate pads that came with the kit. brake dust is comparable to the ultimate axxis.

running them on the street is not a problem. haven't had a problem with noise.

i'm running the st-45 caliper in rear, so no comments on the rear pads. since most of your braking is up front, no real need to upgrade your rear pads.

don;t forget to follow stoptech instructions. you'll have to remove the deposits of your old pad on the rotors, than bed in your new pads.

i have a new set of ferodo ds2500 pads ready for you if you want. $170 shipped.

+1 on the Ferodo.
The Axxis Ultimate is a fine pad for high performance-street use. It is not up to the task of more than novice "light" track braking demand on this car, let alone intermediate and above skill levels.

I've used the DS2500 and now use the DS3000 (but with OEM Brembos, not Stoptech, sorry - and on a track-only car). I had a set of Axxis Ultimate pads on my e30 BMW and really wasn't all that impressed with them. So-so for street, USELESS even on a small / tight track. I'll say, I've been VERY happy with the Ferodo pads, they seem to last longer and have better release characteristics than the Hawks (was using HT10s - completely cooked a set of HP+), if maybe at the expense of a slightly less aggressive 'bite'

After installing the DS2500 pads this past weekend and driving for a few days after breaking them in. My gosh these pads grip! They are quiet, and they can break your seatbelt and throw you through the windshield feel! I have the Brembos, with these and really am impressed with them.

Well, I'm glad you're happy with these pads. I know I liked them when I drove at H2R autocross a couple of weeks ago.

i guess it's kind of hard to recommend a pad for you since we really don't know how you drive. one thing that "concerned" me a little was that you have a JWT TT. if you are comfortable with putting that much power down on the ground, then you may want to go with something a little more aggressive than the DS2500.

you also have to take into consideration whether or not the car will be driven daily, and how much you care about rotor friendliness, dust, etc. popular pads are hawk DTC-70 (very aggressive, huge bite, but feel good, not rotor friendly at all), pagid blacks (last MUCH longer than the DTC-70, friendlier on rotor), carbotech XP's (rotor friendly, VERY good pads). all of these pads dust A LOT. if you want more info, do what billy says

PFC-01 fronta, Hawk DTC-60 rears. But those are my track pads. Axxis Deluxe for street pads. You really don't want to use the same pads street and track, as most dual purpose pads do both things poorly. You know my G is bit heavier than your Z, as well, with all the audio setup in the trunk

I have the ST-40 front 355 and the OEM Brembo's in the rear which uses the same pads as the ST-22. I am going to try the Hawk DT-70F/DT-60R. I have a Greddy TT with 565 rwhp. I scared the sh*t out of my HPDE instructor on the long straight away comming into turn 17@ Sebring. He was lauging like a school girl. We hit the OEM speed limiter and we could have accelerated another 8th mi or so. Gonna have to get that 156 mph speed limiter removed.
