Hmm I haven't had this problem with my 04 ZR, but I don't think i've been through any heavy slaloms with it like I experienced last year in my Hyundai Tiburon. The steering in that got really heavy during the slalom and so I just ended up clipping cones.

Cooler was a simple tranny cooler purchased at autozone or similar..its thin walled design cools quickly....

easy, just move up in class...
what does it make you BSP?
I did my upgraded power steering cooler more for drifting though...............stock power steering cooler just wouldnt cut it.. especially drifting all day in texas heat..

At my local track we have 3 chicanes at the end of the straights... we do 10 minute sessions.... by the 5th session I definitely notice my power steering getting sluggish.... 100degree heat doesn't help... my ps cooler has also been hit by a rock, so some of the fins are smashed and it probably isn't working as efficiently as possible.....
I've been thinking about this upgrade... I think I want to try to get it done before going to hallett....

We dont bleed the whole system on our T2 car, but before each race we take a turkey baster and excavate all the fluid in the reservoir and replace it with Red Line PS fluid. Great stuff. We learned this little trick when we were running GM products which have always had power steering problems.

Here is something that you may have a hard time believing but is a fact. I was looking at Steve Mitchells Redline Time Attack car in the shop one day and noticed he had no power steering fluid cooler at all. Asked him about it and he said yup don't need one and has never had any overheating issues. Just uses a synthetic fluid and that's it.

ive wondered if they make a steering rack with a quicker ratio...in the real slow tight stuff I have to do the bus-driver and take my hands off the wheel to make more than one complete turn of the wheel >.< hate that. id sacrifice some turning-radius for quicker steering and more feel. Guess i'm out of luck :/

While Time Attack is different than Autocross, even on the hottest days for autocross *all* I have to do is remove the front license plate.
